Important Importables
Jenni Lada brings us information about all of the groovy new gaming imports from around the world.
Plants vs. Zombies, one of the silliest tower-defense games available, is causing quite a stir on the iTunes Store. It made it’s debut on February 15, 2010 at anyone-can-own price of $2.99, and has gone on to earn over a million dollars. That’s right, Popcap Games has made over a million dollars in a little over a week, thanks to a single 34.7mb game.
Popcap also is reporting that Plant vs. Zombies set an App Store record for sales too! Plants vs. Zombies was purchased and downloaded over 300,000 times in the first nine days after its debut, from February 15 to 23. Pretty good sales figures, but then, Plants vs. Zombies is an amazing game.
A quick look at the Plants vs. Zombies product listing shows just how much people are loving the game. As of 11:26am CST, February 25, 2010, there are over 3,000 customer reviews, most positive. A glance over at the customer ratings on the right shows it’s received over 4,400 ratings at the moment, with over 4,100 users giving it a perfect five star rating.
So, anyone here responsible for helping Popcap make a fortune on Plants vs. Zombies? I know if I had an iPod Touch, I’d buy it!
