Important Importables
Jenni Lada brings us information about all of the groovy new gaming imports from around the world.
Assuming you have 3 bills to drop, that is.
Signed by artist-creator Matthew Hawkins, this all-paper Pac-Man 3D creation features the infamous yellow munching head with arms and legs, swallowing ghost Pinky and grabbing an unhappy blue-ish Inky.
It measures 14 in. wide and 10 in. tall and is available for purchase through RivetArt for $300.
Hawkins runs Custom Paper Toys, a website and shop that specializes in, you guessed it, his custom paper toys and other fancy paper-y creations. Papercraft, as the art form is called, makes scrapbooking look like child’s play with intricate 3D creations that involve a lot of folding and a little tape or glue.
You might have seen his some of his creations a few months ago (September 2009) when munching on Arby’s roast beef sandwiches. He designed Justice League paper bobbleheads based on the animated series that included Green Lantern (John Stewart), Superman, Wonder Woman, Hawk Woman, Flash and Martian Manhunter.
He’s also contributed to books, magazines and exhibits and his site sometimes includes designs for printable creations you can cut-and-fold at home.
