Escape 100 uninviting rooms in Rooms: The Main Building

by Jenni Lada on Feb 10, 2010 at 02:10 PM

Hudson’s finally announced the March 23, 2010 release date for its Wii and DS ports of the popular adventure and puzzle game Rooms: The Main Building. It originally came out in August 2008 for PCs and Macs, and was quite popular, though many were put off by the lack of instructions. The Wii and DS versions probably won’t have that problem, since a host/guide named Mr. Book will be available to assist you and both games will of course come with comprehensive instructions.

Rooms: The Main Building is a sliding block, building escape game, which has you arranging rooms and using objects to find a way to escape from each room and building before the exit is closed and you’re trapped forever. There are 100 rooms to escape from, and you’ll be using either the remote or stylus to find your way through to safety.

Each version of Rooms: The Main Building is going to have a special feature to make the purchase worthwhile. The Wii version has a multiplayer mode, where two people are in the same puzzle and must try to reach the necessary items and escape before the other one does. Unfortunately, you can’t sabotage your opponent. The DS version lets you create and share your own room puzzles. I think that gives the DS version an edge, because if you end up beating the game, you can always rely on other people’s creations, or your own, to keep you occupied. Both versions of the game will cost $29.99.
