| Bio: | I’ve been writing for about 11 years now, seriously for about 5. I have published one book entitled “Brink of Extinction” and will have a second book published this year entitled “Conquest of Heroes”. Conquest of Heroes is based off a game I am developing through Burning Man Studios, a independent game company based out of the United Kingdom, where I am the lead designer and writer. I am also an artist, which I have been doing for quite sometime now—I draw in a comic book style. |

- RE: Gamertell Review: Watchmen the movie [Gamertell]And damn PJ for beating me to the punch to the Watchmen review. But at least I can rant here ;p
- RE: Gamertell Review: Watchmen the movie [Gamertell]I downloaded the Watchmen comics a few weeks before the movie came out. While I have been collecting comics since I was 11 years old, I had never really heard of Watchmen, although, I had heard of Alan Moore, who I don't like as a writer. The only movie based on his work that I liked was From Hell, which was great. I like the Watchmen movie much better than the books by a wide margin, which I actually got extremely bored with. Although, while I've heard how original the books were, there does seem to be a lot of Batman: The Dark Knight (not the movie - the Millar book) influence spread throughout Watchmen, and I think the Dark Knight came out several years earlier. But yeah, if I had read Watchmen at the time, which I couldn't being only like 6 years old, I would have found it more original and complex compared to any comic (except the Dark Knight) of the time. I've had the luxury of Spawn, Sin City, The Authority, etc that are darker and broke new ground in the industry through the 90s and beyond, all of which can, I guess, be contributed to Watchmen. So, I'll give the book and Moore props for that, but not much else - but hey, I don't like the Godfather movies either :) Overall, I still love my more conventional super heroes more than these deconstructive attempts that Watchmen tried to shove down our throat.
- RE: Gamertell Review: Watchmen the movie [Gamertell]Yeah I felt that about the whole nuclear plot...it just didn't feel very serious or certain, but just a after thought to the plot. If it was a threat that was more contemporary than it might have had a greater impact on the story. It was weird seeing the Twin Towers in a lot of scenes, and at the end when we do see Ground Zero, there is a lot of memories of 9/11. I really think they could have pulled more on those more current images to strengthen the overall sense of dread in the film. That is the main problem with adapting this movie to almost a mirror translation of the graphic novel. If it had been inspired, brought up to date, and reinterpreted, say like how Lords of Rings follows the books, but the films feel very original and purposely skipped over a lot of the unnecessary crap from those books, Watchmen could have been far stronger and groundbreaking.
- RE: Gamertell Review: Watchmen the movie [Gamertell]Just saw this movie and like everyone else I was pretty excited to see it. But man, talk about over hype. I found it pretty dull and uninteresting, and not to mention extremely slow. The movie was very predictable even if you hadn't read the graphic novel. I did like this version's end more than the book. It made way more sense than a giant octopus, but it felt still very rushed and didn't focus enough on the dramatic impact of the villain's actions. And even though there is so many damn flashbacks and details about these character's past, I still couldn't find myself caring about them, or really understanding who they are. Rorschach, was, however, the whole movie. Every time he was on screen I just didn't want him to leave. Overall, Watchmen doesn't hold a candle to Dark Knight or Iron Man.
- Yeah, agree. I just don't think Bay is right for the movie. I don't think he is right for any movie. The man knows nothing about editing or story development. Then again, I guess he is perfect as video game movies don't know nothing about story either ^^
- No clue what to think about Starbuck...for a while I thought she would be the 5th, even though I was hoping she wouldn't be since that would be way to obvious. This Friday's episode seem to confirm again that she isn't - or something. But, than again, she did find her own corpse, so who knows. Knowing the BSG writers, I'm sure they will shock the hell out of everyone when they finally reveal everything.
- I am so sad that this series is going off the air. There isn't much else on TV that even holds a candle to BSG. Season 4 was the best of the entire show, and some of those battle scenes were Star Wars quality. However, the strong religious themes of season 4 were driving me crazy. Thankfully they dropped that with this new season...for the most part.
- RE: Gamertell Review: The Incredible Hulk movie [Gamertell]I was really excited when I heard Norton was taking over the roll. You can tell he enjoyed the roll and is a fan of the Hulk.
- One can only hope. I know a lot of Punisher fans have really been begging for a serious film to be made. Its about time he got his time in the sun.
- Well everyone is entitled to your own opinion and frankly I think a 75/100 is a pretty good score. I am entitled to review games for Gamer Tell and give a honest and critical opinion. I won't give a game a favorable score because someone think a game is good because it has a 40 hit combo or because they personally enjoy the game's difficulty. I had a open mind going into the review but I am not going to rate any game higher when the game is basically the same as the previous one's in the series. I and many gamers and critics alike expect more when it comes to a older game that are developed for current-gen systems. We all expect more from titles such as Halo 3 and GTA IV to deliver something new and unique than what we got on the last generation of consoles. If anyone wants to write their own reviews, by all means, go right ahead. I encourage it. Copy and paste them below and have fun. My self, I have moved on to something else.
- No thank you. Games are reviewed as they are played. If it rubes me the wrong way, then it rubes be the wrong way. The series is just like so many other ports coming out of Japan now. Nothing is advancing. Just same rules, same mechanics, same graphics. While the game has some good points its just not enough compared to a number of stellar titles that are out there. I don't give it a bad review simply because it is hard. Nothing wrong with that, but you need to do more than release just dull updates to the same game we've played 3 times already in the past 4 year or so. Ninja Gaiden has always been for a select crowd but I have to think about general players and my own feelings towards the game when reviewing it.
- Thanks mate :)
- RE: Beyond Good & Evil 2 teaser trailer [Gamertell]wow you actually found a copy of it. I've seen them running for over a hundred bucks on ebay. Not to many out there. Thanks for the heads up on the video. Will fix at once.
- RE: Rumor: Bioshock coming to PS3 [Gamertell]Yeah, the movie is indeed being made now. Fingers crossed.
- RE: Gamertell Review: Iron Man the Movie [Gamertell]I only sit through the credits if the end song is good. Saw Fury on You Tube so at least they did squeeze him in there. Pretty cool....Geek meter went up 10 points watching ^^
- RE: Gamertell Review: Iron Man the Movie [Gamertell]Ah damn, no I didn't. Will have to remember next time.
- RE: Gamertell Review: Iron Man the Movie [Gamertell]I never saw him unless he was in the back of a crowd or something.
- RE: Free Star Wars book from Del Rey [Gamertell]Oh my god! WOW! so you are the one person huh? ^^
- RE: Free Star Wars book from Del Rey [Gamertell]Never been able to get into the post Episode 6 world or characters, but hey, the book is free so I guess I'll read this one ^^
- RE: ESRB warns that GTA IV isn't for kids [Gamertell]Yeah it is up to the parent to take charge of what their kids watch or play and it shouldn't effect everyone else at all. I grew up watching violent movies and while there weren't anything in the 8 bit world that i would call violent really, I and many many others have grown up just fine.
- MKII is pretty terrible. It is hard to imagine that people actually pay millions of dollars to have such a piece of crap made. Its just one fight scene after another and was there really any need to try and fill as many MK characters into one film. I actually like Tomb Raider 2 better than the first, to a degree. It didn't have that wow factor that the first had but I thought it was made better, but I've never really thought that Angelina Jolie really did a good Lara Croft. She has the sex appeal and then some, but she always came off too brash and arrogant and lacked that certain tempered charmed that Lara has in the games.
- That wasn't the S.T.A.R.S in the first movie, they were just a Umbrella assault team sent in to regain control over the facility. The S.T.A.R.S don't appear until the second and even crappier movie where they, all but Jill, get wiped out by Nemesis. And man oh man, was Alone in the Dark a bad movie. I was stupid enough to actually pay to see that and i don't have a clue why as i don't even like the game.
