Fight off the zombie apocolypse on iPhone, iPod Touch

by Jeremy Hill on Nov 10, 2008 at 09:05 PM

Zombie Attack

There is a game by IUGO Mobile Entertainment called Zombie Attack on the App Store for $0.99 that takes the form of a tower defense game. These kind of games usually involve strategically placing different weapons types around the map to quickly take down enemies of various strengths and weaknesses. The only difference this time around is hordes of zombies that impede your path when building towers.

Zombie Attack lets us play as a survivor who must protect his shack from…

Whack the Dead (not the moles) on your iPhone, Mac and PC

by Jenni Lada on Oct 27, 2008 at 02:15 PM

Whack the Dead screenPeople familiar with mole whacking games may initially have trouble with Phelios’ Whack the Dead, since moles, zombies and people will pop up from the holes. The goal in the new iPhone, iPod Touch, Mac and Windows game is to whack zombies who pop up from the graves for points. To trip players up though, moles and normal humans may also pop up from the holes.

Depending on which version you choose, Whack the Dead may even be free. The iPhone and iPod Touch version of the game (available through the iTunes App Store) costs $2.99. The Mac and Windows versions, however, are available as free downloads through the I Play Phone Games site. Its a good marketing idea - test the game for free, and if people like it, they’ll buy it…

Gaia’s Halloween Hysteria lasts ‘til October 31, 2008

by Lucy Newman on Oct 25, 2008 at 10:13 AM

Halloween hysteria on GaiaonlineAh, Halloween. I still remember chanting “Trick or Treat! Smell our feet! Give us something good to eat!“ hoping to find Candy Corn, M&Ms and pieces of chocolate shaped like pumpkins in my bag. And like other towns across the United States, the variety of costumes you could dress in just to entice the homeowner for that extra piece of candy was the greatest thing since sliced bread to an 8-year-old kid.

Well now players can relive those days from the safety of their homes on Gaia Online. Gaia just started its Halloween Hysteria event last night (October 24, 2008) with trick or treating in the Gaia stores or in the towns. And for those who love dressing up for Halloween, a variety of Halloween costumes are available in the…

Burn Zombie Burn to set PS3s ablaze in 2009

by Jenni Lada on Oct 24, 2008 at 05:14 PM

Burn Zombie Burn logoYou know, sometimes a game announcement can just make your day, even if you don’t own the system. Burn Zombie Burn is one of those games. You can’t hear the title Burn Zombie Burn and not smile, or feel warm and fuzzy inside. Doublesix and Pinnacle Software are working on this arcade-action style zombie destroying game for the PS3’s PlayStation Network, and will hopefully have it completed in the beginning of 2009.

The beauty of a game like Burn Zombie Burn is the title says it all. What do you do in it? You’ve got it - burn zombies. Well, you can also shoot or destroy zombies by other means, but somehow fire seems the most fun. You’re plopped in a B-movie area and have to beat the zombies to win. There will be three modes (freeplay, timed and defense), two multiplayer options (co-op and versus), different challenges in different levels, eight different kinds of zombies and many different ways to dispatch the undead…

Outbreak in Liberty City multiplayer a Halloween prank

by Kris Rosado on Oct 24, 2008 at 03:03 PM

Grand Theft Auto IV Outbreak screen shot gamertellWell kids, just as we were about to report the rumor that has been going around that the Xbox 360’s exclusive content may be a zombie infested outbreak in Liberty City, Rockstar made an announcement on its Rockstar Social Club that almost totally deflated our hopes.

An advertisement by Eugenics Inc. that a “contagious disease” said Social Club spark a bit of chatter earlier today causing many, including us, to speculate that the citizens of Liberty City would be turned into blood thirsty zombies. We were almost right. Instead of being the “exclusive” downloadable content that Microsoft promised us for Fall 2008, its a Halloween gag by the Rockstar folks.

Instead, its the players that will become zombies, or at least gain access to that ultra-Halloween zombie skin…

Resident Evil: Degeneration slumping into stores December 30, 2008

by Jeremy Hill on Oct 21, 2008 at 09:10 AM

RE Degeneration
Yes it’s a big let down that Resident Evil 5 won’t be coming out this year along with all the other big games but we will still get our yearly Resident Evil fix. It won’t be a game this time around but instead the animated feature Resident Evil: Degeneration is coming to home video, guaranteeing we get our annual dose of RE creepiness all the same. Degeneration will be coming out on December 30, 2008 on Blu-ray, DVD and PSP.

Degeneration is a computer-generated movie that takes place seven years after Raccoon City was destroyed by the government. This time our zombie splattering heroes are trapped inside Harvardville airport when an outbreak of zombie madness…

Resident Evil’s zombie evolution

by Danielle Riendeau on Oct 15, 2008 at 09:03 PM

Resident Evil 5
Just in time for Halloween, the kind folks at 1up have a very cool little video on the “evolution” of Resident Evil‘s zombies. Featuring clips from each of the franchise’s many survival horror classics, the video is a fun look at how the monsters have changed from 1996’s pixelated brain-munchers to the vicious (and seriously scary) creatures of the upcoming Resident Evil 5.

TGS 2008: Kill zombies with your mind in Judecca

by Karn Bianco on Oct 11, 2008 at 01:04 PM

Mindset

Buttons, digital joysticks, analogue sticks, touch screens, motion-sensing controllers — what’s next? Well, if Square Enix and NeuroSky (a company that specializes in interfacing bio-signals including brainwaves with consumer electronics) have anything to do with it, mind control headsets are.

At the 2008 Tokyo Game Show in Japan this week (October 9 – October 12, 2008), the two companies demonstrated Judecca, a zombie-filled first-person shooter for the PC which utilizes NeuroSky’s Mindset device to detect electrical signals in the user’s left frontal lobe and subsequently alter what is…

This means that Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball, along with other winners Ashen Empires, Enigmo, FireTeam Reloaded, Glum Buster, Goo!, Mockingbird, Mushroom Men and ToyBox Heroes, will be displayed at the IGF Pavilion during the 2008 Austin Game Developer’s Conference.

Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball was the only downloadable title to be honored at the event. It also was the only Xbox 360 game to be named an IGF showcase winner. As you may recall, Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball is a dodgeball game featuring teams of pirates, ninjas, zombies and robots as they fight through four different arenas, while using special, to prove which group is superior. Chop Til You Drop this Christmas

by Jeremy Hill on Jul 22, 2008 at 04:44 PM

Dead Rising: Chop Til You Drop

The addictive zombie slaying gameplay we’ve come to love in Dead Rising on the Xbox 360 will soon be coming to the Wii Q4 2008. This is a shocking title to be ported over to the often family-friendly Nintendo Wii but it’s certainly more than welcome.

As expected, there will be some changes made to the Wii version including the name, which will become Dead Rising: Chop Til You Drop, a simply awesome title.

The WiMote plays a vital role as it will be used to…
