DS to get a bit Zen with casual games
![]()
Just when you thought the DS library couldn’t get any more diverse, Mercury Games and Ertrain BV recently announced a partnership to bring more than ten casual, or non-game ,releases to the US and Europe later this year (2007).
The games are part of Ertrain’s Zen series and include the titles Paint Pleasure, Aquarium DS Real and Calligraphy DS. True to the tranquility of the label, the titles are meant more for “the opportunity to relax, relieve stress and unwind” than offer hardcore gameplay.
Lately, games of this nature have been wildly successful, especially in the Japanese market. It seems now is the best time for Ertrain to take advantage of the DS’s growing appeal to non-traditional gamers everywhere but it remains to be seen how receptive the US market will be to something as niche as a Zen Calligraphy simulator.
