In addition to confirming that Blizzard is looking to monetize Battle.net — news that was later elaborated on with confirmation that Diablo III won’t be subscription based — Brack responded to the recent confusion regarding the discovery of…

A new way to run through World of Warcraft

The primary means of travel in World of Warcraft is running. You run pretty much everywhere, and some fans became curious as to what it would be like to physically experience that same amount of running in real life. The result was Aaron and Elijah’s RL Race Across Azeroth.
These guys even worked out the how the running in WoW would correspond to running in the real world. They built a treadmill which would work with WoW, set it up so they would run at six mph and prepared to run from the gates of Shadowglen to the sentries of Darnassus. They also dressed up like their characters - for scientific purposes of course.

One million Chinese gamers simultaneously logged in to World of Warcraft
The Chinese operator of World of Warcraft, The9, has announced that the game recently reached a peak concurrency of 1 million players in China, meaning there were a million Chinese players logged into the game at the same time. This is the toughest test for WOW servers in China to date and, lucky for gamers, they passed - most likely because they aren’t Made in China (pun definitely intended)...
World of Warcraft player takes gold farming company to court
Antonio Hernandez, a World of Warcraft (WOW) player and former assistant manager at an Orlando-based gaming store, is suing Internet Gaming Entertainment (IGE), one of the largest online gaming service companies in the world. Hernandez intends to have IGE banned from selling WOW currency for real money, due to the negative effects real money trading has on the in-game experience and server economies.
What sets this case apart from others is that Hernandez is challenging the issue as a player and not as…
MSNBC writer denounces games as media’s main scapegoat
Back on Monday (February 18, 2008), MSNBC published an article by writer Winda Benedetti criticizing infamous Miami lawyer Jack Thompson’s far too well-known crusade against videogames. Benedetti even went so far as to suggest that certain games can actually be thought-provoking enough to warn against the dangers of such things like obesity, which gaming is also often blamed for.
Yes, you read that paragraph right. In the wake of the recent shootings at Northern Illinois University, someone in the media actually…
