Gamertell Review: Peak’s Starpex guitar controller for PS3, PS2

Product: Peak’s Starpex wireless guitar controller
Systems: PS2, PS3
Price: $189.99
Rating: Two thumbs up; 98/100; A; * * * * 1/2 out of five.
Pros: Feels great, works perfectly and looks amazing. Easy to connect and great action on the buttons.
Cons: A little pricey and could use a better neck strap.
Overall: The perfect gift for a Guitar Hero or Rock Band fanatic. If you want to feel even more like a real virtual video game rock star, this is the guitar controller to own.
Screw those mamby pamby plastic guitar controllers with wood grain stickers. Those are for wimps and wussies.
Peak has released the first full size, wood body guitar game controller. It’s essentially a real electric guitar (ever touch one of those?) with the electric components swapped for plastic controller parts.
It looks great, feels great and plays great, making it one truly ass-kicking game controller…
Gamertell Exclusive: Peak Products producing Starpex, full-size guitar controller for PS3, PS2
I swear to Jimi Hendrix, this was my initial reaction when a Peak Products rep told me they are producing the first ever full-size, all wood guitar game controller:
1. About friggin’ time!
2. Won’t that be heavy?
3. Well, duh, real guitarists hold those things for hours at a time. And that’s what a guitar strap is for.“
Here was the email response I received from a rep at Max Borges Agency, the PR company representing Peak:
1. Seriously.
2 [and 3]. Not that heavy at all. Lighter than a real guitar of the same size. Held one when they demoed it at our office
Dubbed the Starpex, the controller will be compatible with both the PS2 and PS3, can be used to play both Guitar Hero or Rock Band and can be used as a wired or wireless controller.
