Wii Virtual Console and WiiWare update for 11.24.08

It’s another surprisingly decent week for Wii downloadable games. We’ve got Boingz, a very fun looking puzzle-platformer, Boogerman, a classic Genesis platformer for gamers of discerning taste, and the budget priced Sudoku Challenge! for your other puzzle addiction (the first being Tetris - no one ever gets over that one. No one.). As usual, the titles are available on the Wii Shop channel, with a fresh batch arriving every Monday at 9 AM Pacific time. Wii points can be purchased at a rate of $1 for 100 points.
Wii Virtual Console/WiiWare update for November 17, 2008

This week, Nintendo and Incredible Technologies are proud to present you with Target Toss Pro: Bags, what I believe may just be the world’s very first “professional” bean bag tossing game. I don’t know if it’ll hold up to that bean bag minigame in Donkey Kong Country 3, but hey, it’s based on “the nation’s hottest backyard and tailgate sensation”.
Moving on to games you all probably care about, we have the latest from Strong Bad‘s adventure series - Strong Bad Episode 4: Dangeresque 3, the Super NES version of Space Invaders and Genesis shooter FORGOTTEN WORLDS. As usual, the titles are available on the Wii Shop channel, with a fresh batch arriving every Monday at 9 AM Pacific time. Wii points can be purchased at a rate of $1 for 100 points.
Wii Virtual Console/WiiWare update for November 10, 2008
It looks like the WiiWare this week is all about the clones - we have the Cooking Mama-like Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam and a curiously Brain Age-y Brain Challenge. No matter. The Virtual Console boasts one of the greatest of the old Mega Man games - all is right in Wii-land. As usual, the titles are available on the Wii Shop channel, with a fresh batch arriving every Monday at 9 AM Pacific time. Wii points can be purchased at a rate of $1 for 100 points…
Get ready for NIS Wii and Wiiware games
Siliconera‘s been busy uncovering new information this week, as it also found out that Nippon Ichi has been approved to develop Wii and Wiiware titles. As any DS RPG fan already knows, NIS has developed and released games for Nintendo’s other system - two of which, Disgaea DS and Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure, were released stateside in October, 2008.
NIS’ first game for the system has already been revealed, Let’s Hitchhike. It is a Wiiware game that is currently scheduled for a 2009 release in Japan. No other titles have been confirmed or announced…
Nintendo announces two new handheld WarioWare games
According to Gamespot, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata has announced two new WarioWare games, one for the new DSiWare and one for the regular-old, none fancy dual camera-packing DS (DS Lite, Fat) hardware. The two new games are titled WarioWare: Photograph and WarioWare Myself. Can you guess which one is for which system?
Wii Virtual Console/WiiWare update - November 3, 2008

This week, we have a lot of space shooting, alien crushing and… interior decoration on the Wii’s downloadable services. My pick of the week is definitely Alien Crush Returns - a WiiWare enhanced version of what is arguably the best pinball game ever made. I also remember spending hours on end with Space Harrier in Shenmue‘s virtual arcade - 1986 never felt so good. As usual, the titles are available on the Wii Shop channel, with a fresh batch arriving every Monday at 9 AM Pacific time. Wii points can be purchased at a rate of $1 for 100 points…
Gamertell Review: Strong Bad’s Baddest of the Bands for PC
Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People: Baddest of the Bands: Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People: Baddest of the Bands
Price: $8.95 (PC), 1000 WiiWare points
System(s): *PC and Wiiware
Release Date: October, 27, 2008
Publisher (Developer): Telltale Games
ESRB Rating: “Everyone 10+“ for crude humor and comic mischief
Pros: Hilarious, fun gameplay, great way to waste a few hours.
Cons: No mini-games, extra items are hard to find
Overall Score: Two thumbs up; 94/100; A-; * * * * 1/2 out of five.
Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People Episode 3, Baddest of the Bands is now out for the PC and Wii. As always, it involves Strong Bad destroying the lives of everyone around him for his own benefit.
In this episode, Strong Bad’s video game system, aka “the fun machine,” breaks down. Oh nos! So he brings it to Bubs to get fixed. Bubs tells him that it will cost a ton of money, which of course SB doesn’t have. So the only logical way he sees to raise the money is to hold a “baddest of the bands” concert…
Wii Virtual Console/WiiWare update for October 27 - November 2, 2008

It’s another fine week on Wii’s downloadable services - with classic 16-bit platformer Earthworm Jim and the latest from Strong Bad. There’s also an Art Style game (which look kind of cool, actually), but let’s be honest - 90% of you are going to go for the funny stuff. As usual, the titles are available on the Wii Shop channel, with a fresh batch arriving every Monday at 9 AM Pacific time. Wii points can be purchased at a rate of $1=100 points.
Wii Virtual Console/WiiWare update for October 20-26, 2008
It’s a bit of a slower week on the Wii’s downloadable services, though I wouldn’t call it a bad update. Tetris Party has finally arrived, so if you’ve ever wanted to drop blocks online with a balance board (the game can be controlled via the Wii balance board. really.), here’s your chance. As usual, the titles are available on the Wii Shop channel, with a fresh batch arriving every Monday at 9 AM Pacific time. Wii points can be purchased at a rate of $1=100 points.
Wii Virtual Console update for October 13-19, 2008

It’s official - Nintendo has gotten it’s downloadable games act together. This week, we have two very tantalizing VC titles - including a Street Fighter II iteration and Secret of Mana, a SNES action-RPG classic. We’ve also got some very cool looking Wiiware games - especially World of Goo, an indie-made puzzler with very cool physics. As usual, the titles are available on the Wii Shop channel, with a fresh batch arriving every Monday at 9 AM Pacific time. Wii points can be purchased at a rate of $1 per 100 points.
