Playstation Trophies to litter GTA IV landscape in October 2009
Thanks to Sony’s firmware update 2.41, however, Playstation 3 owners will also have the opportunity to earn ‘achievements’ akin to their 360 brethren. Rockstar announced that 51 trophies will be patched into the game via this firmware update, which will allow it to have a singular achievement not available in the 360 version of the game…
Rumor: Sony may soon offer more rewards than just pixelated Trophies
Unlocking a Trophy while playing a game on the PS3 is wholly satisfying. Its seems one second you’re racking up the head shots and the next second that little sparkling sound effect comes through the speakers.
Before today (October 20, 2008) gaining Trophies was just a testament of dedication in doing a specific task in a game. In the future gaining a Trophy could mean a special treat is coming to you from Sony.
According to CVG, the issue of the US Official PlayStation Magazine reports that Sony Computer Entertainment of America is “mulling over some sort of Trophy reward system…“
Big ol’ list of Trophies for Resistance 2

Resistance 2 will be the latest game in the Playstation 3 library to benefit from Trophy support. These additions will permeate themselves through the game’s single-player and cooperative campaigns, along with its online multiplayer modes.

Linger in Shadows the not-a-game coming to Playstation Network
While looking for any more information about the Playstation 4 and any goodies coming out soon for my Playstation 3, I came across this blog from the new executive producer of the Playstation Network, Kevin Furuichi, announcing a Halloween-themed episode of Qore available in the Playstation Store this Thursday, October 9, 2008, and this strange looking game interactive site
, whatever it is, is called Linger in Shadows. I can’t tell what it is but you can also access it on PSN on October 9, 2008.
Although it looks like a cool game and uses the PSN Trophy system like a game, it is definitely not a game…
Screw the PS4 rumors: PS3 will keep us busy for years
I just bought a PlayStation 3 console when I read the rumors of a PlayStation 4 coming out soon and all the mind blowing possibilities of the theoretically new console. I could barely afford the PS3 much less worry about what its going to cost for a PS4. But, based on what Paul Holman (Sony Vice President of Technology) told TechEBlog in 2006, the PS4 will not be out until at least 2010…
More Trophies added to Buzz! Quiz TV via patch

By now I’m sure all you Trophy hounds out there have your hands full gathering the numerous digital accolades of PixelJunk Eden and Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. It doesn’t seem like you’ll be able to rest anytime soon because there are more Trophies to be had in Buzz! Quiz TV. The next time you boot the game on your PS3 you’ll be prompted to update the game with the latest patch.
The game has 18 Trophies (three groups of 6) that we know of and there’s a possibility that six more hidden Trophies stashed somewhere on the disc. Only after discovering those will you be able to unlock the coveted…
PS3 Bioshock to support trophies, Playstation Home
We can add Bioshock to the number of future PS3 titles that will ship with Trophy support. Andrew Rudson, a programmer for Digital Extremes wrote a post on 2K Games’ website explaining the process of including Trophies in the game.
The only evidence of Playstation Home support in Bioshock is on the game’s box art…
Videogame companies score Emmy awards - but no trophies - at CES 2008
The 2008 Engineering & Technology Emmys were award this past Monday (January 7, 2008) at CES in Las Vegas, NV.
The big - and second consecutive year - winner was Nintendo with several nods for the Nintendo DS and a wink to the Wii. Linden Labs also won a pair for Second Life.
Other notable winners include the Atari Lynx for the screen development (so nice to see that system finally get some respect), Mattell’s Football handheld game (which helped maintain my sanity during many long bus rides in high school), and a couple big-name games including World of Warcraft, Havok and Quake.
As you may recall last year’s awards had a bit of extra excitement generated by Sony, though this year Sony doesn’t have an award to brag about.
Award presenters included Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association, astronaut Buzz Aldrin, and Peter Price, president and CEO of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Chairman of the Gaming Committee Seth Haberman and Variety’s Chief Marketing Officer Madelyn Hammond. Peter Price, President and CEO of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. told press:
“For the first time in our 59 year history, not all winners will be presented with an Emmy statuette at this year’s ceremony due to litigation with the Hollywood-based Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. We are in court aggressively fighting for the right to recognize the talents and achievements of these companies and individuals without whom our industry would not be the world leader it is today. Once victorious, we plan to present each winner from tonight’s event with their own Emmy.”
