Toshiba launches the Satellite X205-SLi gaming notebook with Penryn processor
A PC gamer needs a deep pocket and to be an early adopter of change (of which there is plenty in computer technology). One of the newer technologies out there is the range of 45 nm Penryn processors from Intel that run cooler while providing increased speeds ideal for gaming use. Now Toshiba has introduced the latest and the meanest version of its flagship gaming notebook series. The Satellite X205-SLi has a cogent Penryn at its heart backed by NVIDIA’s SLI graphics, which will combine to give you the…
RIP HD-DVD: Toshiba concedes defeat
The high-definition format war has finally come to an end with Toshiba humbly accepting the defeat of its HD-DVD format. The company announced in an official statement on Tuesday (February 19, 2008) that it will no longer develop, manufacture and market the HD-DVD. It stated that it was left with no choice but to discontinue the HD-DVD, while tacitly referring to major movie studios and retailers switching sides to the rival Blu-ray. It can safely be said that Warner Brothers’ recent decision to only support Blu-ray was the final nail in the HD-DVD coffin.

Gamertell Review: Toshiba Satellite X205-S9349 Laptop
Product: Toshiba Satellite X205-S9349
Price: $1,899.99
Rating: 8.5/10
Pros: Surprisingly impressive sound system, a great screen and it plays games well despite Vista. Comes with internal hardware extras - extra USB ports, HD DVD drive, DVD burner and 1.3 megapixel webcam - you’d eventually add to your home PC anyway.
Cons: Some front ports hard to see, the system runs pretty warm and the cover easily smudges. Keys are a bit too low and pop out too easily.
Overall: A good purchase for a hard-core gamer in need of a portable system. Plan to spend time wiping off promotion apps. The sound system will certainly impress your friends.

Toshiba’s Satellite X205 laptops aim for gamers
Toshiba’s latest line of laptops, the Satellite X205 series, are targeting gamers with dual hard drives, a 17 in. widescreen display, four built-in speaker, 255 MB dedicated video RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce 8700M GT graphics card.
The craziest part of this laptop is that there are not any ports on the back, making it easier to unplug for transport. All of the ports (except for maybe power, though it is hard to tell from Toshiba’s images), are on the sides, which also allows for shorter keyboard and mouse cables.
