THQ cancels PS3 release of Destroy All Humans! Path of Furon

by Kris Rosado on Nov 28, 2008 at 04:44 PM

Destroy All humans! PS3Apparently, aliens just do not like Playstations. I don’t know what they have against it but at least Playstation owners will not have to worry about things like um, probing and melting ray guns. Good riddance I says!

I bet Sony probably doesn’t see it that way as the THQ has confirmed to ShackNews that the Playstation 3 version of Destroy all Humans! Path of Furon will not be invading the Blu-ray-packing machine after all. This news comes just days until the game’s expected release on December 1, 2008, and officially makes Destroy All Humans! Path of Furon an Xbox 360 exclusive game.

ShackNews points out this is the second Destroy all Humans game this year to receive the axe on a…

Expand Company of Heroes with Tales of Valor

by Kris Rosado on Nov 7, 2008 at 02:27 PM

Company of HeroesTHQ has announced that another Company of Heroes expansion is on its way. Dubbed Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor, the product will be a standalone expansion developed by Relic Entertainment and will feature a slew of new content including three campaigns, multiplayer modes and a “direct-fire” feature.

Unfortunately, no other information was given on any of the modes or campaigns, not even a price. The release window is Spring 2009, however, so we should be hearing more on this soon. Though, as Joystiq points out, Amazon does mention the game’s release date as March 9, 2009, with a $30 price tag. But, again…

THQ to close 5 studios, maybe more

by Kris Rosado on Nov 5, 2008 at 05:40 PM

THQA wildfire of reports have been released announcing that THQ will be closing up to five studios and will be making more cuts later this week, presumably today (November 5, 2008) during the company’s quarterly reports call.

Reasons for the giant blow are linked to dropping share values and internal problems, similar to that of Electronic Arts.

Gamasutra first reported THQ’s problems with the closing of…

Saints Row 2

A CBS 12 news story out of Florida is reporting the New York police union officials see the game as an abomination as it’s dehumanizing officers and making light of violent situations. They believe the game is a negative influence on children despite the fact that Saints Row 2 has a Mature rating which is meant to prevent children from purchasing the game…

THQ picks up 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand

by Kris Rosado on Oct 12, 2008 at 08:37 PM

Blood on the Sand

It was only a matter of time before someone picked up the recently dropped 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand.

According to a listing at Australia’s Office of Film and Literature Classifications (found by a member of forum site NeoGaf), the financially savvy company smart enough to pick up a guaranteed million copy seller is THQ.

Even though the first game, 50 Cent: Bulletproof, was a critical failure, the game did go on to…

Viva Pinata: Pocket Paradise launches on DS

by Danielle Riendeau on Sep 9, 2008 at 08:33 PM

Viva Pinata: Pocket Paradise
Viva Pinata was one of the saddest examples of a game ill-fitted for its platform. The 2006 gardening sim was totally under appreciated on the pre-“everyone’s a gamer” hardcore-only Xbox 360, but it’s thankfully getting another lease on life in the form of a re-invented 360 game: Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise and a new DS version: Viva Pinata: Pocket Paradise. The handheld game launched today (September 9, 2008), so any would-be gardeners/pinata aficionados can get right on that. The asking price is the standard $29.99, and the title should be available at all major retailers.

The game has players tending to their garden, attracting the various colorful pinata creatures and caring for them in various ways. So, far, the reviews have been quite positive, so you have no reason not to run out and grab a copy. Unless you have some sort of weird fear of pinatas.

E3’s a party with Viva Piñata:Pocket Paradise around

by Jenni Lada on Jul 17, 2008 at 03:03 PM

Viva Pinata: Pocket Paradise DS screenshot Viva PiñataRare and THQ’s portable pet game, Viva Piñata: Pocket Paradise made an appearance at E3. Its debut at the convention meant more screenshots and information on the portable version of a series made popular on the Xbox 360. Players are able to raise piñatas and care for them - definitely not your everyday pet sim.

In Viva Piñata: Pocket Paradise, you’re able to engage in practically every activity you did in the Xbox 360 and PC versions of Viva Piñata. You raise pinatas, breed them, share piñatas and items with friends, go through training missions and attempt to have a bunch of happy, paper mache critters. There are over 60 different piñatas in the game, so it should keep people busy for a while.
