New Yakuza 2 information for you

by Jenni Lada on Jul 15, 2008 at 02:57 PM

Yakuza 2 screen shot screenshot Kazuma bowlingSega has released an official press release for Yakuza 2 (PS2) in honor of E3. Once again players will step into Kazuma Kiryu’s shoes to try and prevent a gang war in Tokyo and Osaka. Once again Toshiro Nagoshi and Seishu Hase, the producer and writer behind the first Yakuza, have created a whole new adventure for Yakuza 2. It will be released September 9, 2008.

It seems like Sega has really worked to improve the failings of the original Yakuza in Yakuza 2, and create a more immersive experience. The game will feature only Japanese voice acting, with English subtitles, locations in Tokyo and Osaka to visit (based on real establishments), a better fighting engine, more Heat moves to use in battles and the ability to take down more than one opponent with attacks. There will also be new free time activities for Kazuma, like bowling and putting at the driving range.

by Jenni Lada on Jul 11, 2008 at 02:13 PM

Nintendo DS liteThe DS is definitely the belle of the ball for E3 2008. It seems like practically every developer and publisher attending is working on incredibly interesting titles for Nintendo’s handheld. While quite a few publishers/developers are keeping us in the dark as to what games we can expect to see (like Nintendo), others are already giving fans sneak peeks of what’s to come.

Gamertell decided to look at what DS games have been revealed so far, and pluck out the best of the best. These are the titles we can’t wait to play, and we’ll eagerly anticipate the release of. So far, it looks like the DS will be home to many interesting RPGs and ports.

Important Importables Mini: Epic Japanese release-date is epic

by Jenni Lada on Jun 17, 2008 at 11:47 AM

Important Importables logo
Daigasso DX box artIt isn’t uncommon for one or two big titles to be released on the same day or within a few days of each other, (Example: Grand Theft Auto IV and Mario Kart Wii.) but more often than not, publishers will avoid this and scatter dates so their games will get the attention they deserve. Apparently the Japanese DS game publishers wanted to cause a free-for-all June 26, 2008, because five highly anticipated games are being released at once. Six, if you’re excited about Simple DS Series Vol. 39 The Shouboutai (Fire Fighters).

So let’s go over Bleach: The 3rd Phantom, Bokura no Telebi Game Kentei, Daigasso! Band Brothers DX, Jigsaw World and Disgaea DS, the five major titles being released in Japan…

Sega announces Pictoimage, freehand drawing game for DS

by Pulkit Chandna on May 27, 2008 at 05:48 PM

PictoimageSega has announced yet another game for the handheld which promises innovative gameplay: PictoImage a drawing-oriented puzzle game that will help you hone drawing and mental skills.

Players will be required to accurately guess an image from an extensive library of 300 drawings in the single-player and two-player modes. The fun doesn’t cease there as the pictorial game has a multi-player mode which allows up to eight players to turn-by-turn draw an image based on a word that can be the name of an animal, object, food or “Other.” Competitors also have to guess the word that describes a drawing in front of them.

There will be eight different multi-player modes and players can raise the bar for their competitors by adding their own words to the game.

PictoImage release date has not yet been announced but is expected in August 2008. It hasn’t still received a rating, either, but don’t expect any protests over a benign game like this.

by Christopher Buckner on May 18, 2008 at 02:39 PM

iron man
Title: Iron Man
Price: $59.99
System(s): Xbox 360
Release Date: May, 2, 2008
Publisher (Developer): Sega, (Secret Level)
Rating: “Teen” for Mild Language and Violence
Pros: Iron Man modeling is nice, plenty of weapon and armor customization, unlockable classic era armors
Cons: Horrible AI, twitchy controls, poor graphics, bad voice over work, weak story, numerous bugs and glitches, repetitive game play, horrible translation of the film.
Overall Score: Two Thumbs Down, 25/100, F, No Stars

Early this month, (May, 2, 2008) the Iron Man motion picture adaptation hit the big screen, and while the movie had a few rough spots, it was a great way to start this summer movie season. Unfortunately, Iron Man for the Xbox 360 can’t say the same thing.
