In celebration of the release of the Creepy & Cute Parts Pack expansion for Spore, EA has thrown players 24 new exoskeleton limbs to toy with.

The patch containing the new parts can be downloaded via the EA Download Manager and from EA’s web site. The patch is available for both PC and Mac.

I would like to touch on a topic that seems to be popping up constantly. I’m talking about game developers patching up games like there’s no tomorrow. Most recently, games such as LittleBigPlanet, SOCOM Confrontation, Fable 2,  and Castle Crashers have been victims of a crucial gameplay element being either broken or excluded from launch. The good thing about technology and consoles in this generation is the ability of adding or fixing content through the use of a simple patch. However, just because developers have this ability doesn’t mean they should abuse it.

Kotaku got in touch with Lionhead Community Manager, Sam Van Tilburgh, to see how things were coming along in regards to both a patch that is supposed to fix the “Abbot Glitch,“ a few other bugs and those missing Limited Edition game codes.

That was a short little scare there, eh? When Lionhead Studios announced that Fable 2 would not be seeing online co-op right out of the gate - a feature promised them would be in the package - people got a tad bit cranky.

Like all EA games, Spore is no stranger to patches to improve and fix gameplay. They’re a fact of life, really. The latest patch, v1.02, has just been released for PCs, with a Mac version promised in the near future. This latest patch addresses a lot of issues, with a focus on making it easier to delete and ban creations you don’t want in your game and also fixing Space Phase issues. The “Bad Baby” achievement has also been removed.

A new game patch has been released for Paradox Interactive’s PC strategic simulation, Europa Universalis: Rome. If you own the game, it is incredibly easy to procure and apply the patch. Just connect to the internet, load up the title, select the “Check for Updates” option on the menu and download patch v1.3.

By now I’m sure all you Trophy hounds out there have your hands full gathering the numerous digital accolades of PixelJunk Eden and Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. It doesn’t seem like you’ll be able to rest anytime soon because there are more Trophies to be had in Buzz! Quiz TV. The free, PC downloadable content pack for EA and BioWare’s Mass Effect was just released today (July 29, 2008). The dlc package, known as “Bring Down the Sky“ is the first of many and is available in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. This news comes on the same day as a new patch announcement, which updates the game to v1.01. The patch is a 34.85 MB download and “Bring Down the Sky” ranges from a 309 MB (English or Spanish) to a 512 MB (German) download.

“Bring Down the Sky” is the same dlc pack that was released for the Xbox 360 version of Mass Effect. It adds a new storyline, a new race (Batarians), new music and a new world to the existing game. If you’re downloading the free add-on though, you’ll probably want the v1.01 patch as well, since it addresses some issues the main game may have with downloadable content…
