Japanese Import: Hori Classic Controller for Wii
In some production lab deep within the mountains of Japan, Japanese peripheral company Hori spliced together a Nintendo GameCube controller, Nintendo Wii functionality and a whole lot of auto-firing.
The result on that stormy night was the Hori Classic Controller. Hori’s take on the “classic controller” offers two auto-fire settings (double and triple from the looks of it) for every button via a switch. It also looks like it’s mainly for use with…

The pre-holiday surge of big games has just about come to an end. All those games have successfully grabbed our attention while the older games are left to sit in the corner and collect dust. Gamefly is coming to the rescue by slashing prices on certain games until November 24, 2008.
These games may not have been the apple of every gamers eye but, for these prices, there’s a place for these games on our shelves. The discounted games cover all platforms except for the PC and PSP and no game is more than $29.99.

Study debunks belief that playing with your Wii can lead to aggression
Confirming something most of us already know, a new study coming out of Villanova University indicates that motion controls do not increase aggression in people who play violent video games.
Certainly inspired by the controversy controversy surrounding the Wii release of Manhunt 2, a study titled “An examination of psychoticism and motion capture controls as moderators of the effects of violent video games” (Patrick M. Markey and Kelly Scherera, 2008, Department of Psychology, Villanova University) examined the “hostility and aggressive thoughts” in individuals while they played Manhunt 2 as well as Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08
DSi price drops at RenChi and NCSX
Online import game retailer RenChi has just announced a pretty substantial price drop on the new DSi units. Instead of charging $299, like many internet retailers, RenChi has decided to drop the price to $249. I just checked their page a few moments ago (11:30am CST November 18, 2008), and both the white and black DSi units are in stock and ship within 24 hours.
After seeing RenChi’s DSi announcement, I decided to look through my favorite import internet stores. I discovered that NCSX is also offering the same $249 price…
Sam’s Club’s 2008 Black Friday ad possibly “doctored”
This past week several sites, including Gamertell, reported that Sam’s Club was offering a rather incredible Wii bundle deal for Black Friday (November 28, 2008, aka the day after Thanksgiving). Unfortunately, the price indicated in the scan of the print ad was incorrect.
According to a cease and desist request sent by Baker Hostetler LLP to Gamertell and many other outlets, the following line was requested to replace the image:
“The Sam’s Club advertisement included unauthorized changes that reflected inaccurate pricing information.“
A representative from Baker Hostetler indicated to Gamertell’s parent company, Dabbledoo Media, that…

Sugar Rush: Looking back at 10 of the cutest Nintendo games Part 1
We often hear “Don’t judge a book by its cover,“ and it is a nice philosophy to have, but often times, we can’t do it - even if we know its right. Human beings can be incredibly superficial creatures, and this superficiality gives items and people with beautiful appearances an edge. After all, are you going to buy a game that doesn’t look good? Probably not.
Nintendo’s smart - the company didn’t get to be one of the top three video game players by ignoring its potential consumers. The result of this is the company developing and producing incredibly adorable games. Now, the adorability isn’t the main selling point, but some titles just end up being cuter than others.
So Gamertell has decided to look back over Nintendo’s extensive video game release history to pick out the 10 sweetest titles Nintendo’s ever had a hand in. I’d recommend not eating candy while reading - you don’t want to go into diabetic shock or something…

Dell’s November 2008 catalog features XPS 630 gaming rigs and Nintendo games (!?)

While in a scantastic mood, looking for holiday deals in various mailings, I noticed something rather curious in the November Dell catalog I received in the mail. It includes a page of video games. And not PC games.
Yes, Dell, the company known for making laptops, desktop computers, monitors, printers and PC accessories (at least, that’s what the title bar of the company’s web site reads), has an entire page dedicated to Nintendo games…
