Burger King’s Wii-themed kids meal toys, $5 off coupon codes
Along with novelty gift cards, the other inexpensive plastic tchockies I like to scout for are kids meal toys.
As a followup to last year’s Wendy’s Wii toys, Burger King is offering this year’s Wii-related tiny toys intended for tots (but not those under the age of three, of course). The ten toys are…

Random Amazon game deals
I’ve stumbled upon some price drops on Amazon for some games that don’t seem to be connected to anything. They could be leftover stock from the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales but it really doesn’t matter. Lower prices on games means more money in our wallets for more games.
This isn’t a particularly big list but it’s useful to have when trying to figure out what to buy that special someone (or yourself) for the upcoming holidays. Most of the games on this list are for the PS3 or Xbox 360 as no Wii deals really stood out all that much. I have no idea how long these prices will stay as they are so start clicking and spreading the word…
Scandalous Animal Crossing - Baabara the sheep’s catchphrase is the N-word
As many people know, video game companies will often send out promotional copies of games to certain media outlets, so said outlets can review, preview and just generally get the word out about the games. In the case of Animal Crossing: City Folk, Nintendo decided to send out a few pre-played copies of Animal Crossing: Wild World, so the press site could try importing a character from Animal Crossing: Wild World to Animal Crossing: City Folk.
MTV Multiplayer‘s Stephen Totilo decided to explore the Animal Crossing: Wild World town before copying the data to his Wii game, and was met with a surprise. Apparently, Baabara the sheep had picked up some foul language from one of the villages she had inhabited, prior to settling in the preview copies distributed by Nintendo. Her customized greeting was the somewhat racist, “[heart] u long time!!“ and her catchphrase was the objectionable word “Ñ___a,“ as seen in the screenshot from MTV Multiplayer at right.
In all Animal Crossing games, players have the ability to customize their animal neighbor’s speech if they befriend them…
Gamertell Review: Animal Crossing City Folk for Wii

Title: Animal Crossing: City Folk
Price: $49.99, $69.99 with WiiSpeak
System(s): Wii
Release Date: November 16, 2008
Publisher (Developer): Nintendo (Nintendo)
ESRB Rating: “Everyone” for Comic Mischief
Pros: Works with the Nintendo WiFi Connection for visitors, like Wild World, has a city area you can visit to have easy access to items and people, large town environment to explore, you can update your town with bridges and a fountain, there are special Pro outfit designs and player houses aren’t clustered together.
Cons: Town visitors don’t come as often, there’s only the Wii remote/nunchuk control scheme, houses can only expand to three rooms and Gracie Grace stock only changes every season.
Overall Score: One thumb up, one sideways; 88/100; B+; ***1/2 out of 5
There are two kinds of people who are going to be buying Animal Crossing: City Folk. The first are the ones who love casual or simulation games, but have never owned an Animal Crossing title before. The second are adamant Animal Crossing fans who own every entry in the series, and are eager to build up a whole new town and life on their Wii.
These two groups of people will love City Folk, and will likely spend hours developing their perfect town. Players who don’t fit into either of these two groups will likely criticize City Folk for its minor improvements and adjustments. It is a delightful entry in the series though, and should provide hours of entertainment if you’re willing to invest the necessary time and effort into it…
Nintendo brings in a whopping $6 per Wii
When the Nintendo Wii was first unveiled, heads spun and Nintendo and it was uncertain that Nintendo knew what it was doing. Being technically inferior to its competitors - the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 - and by not including high-definition graphics or DVD movie playback and focusing on seemingly gimmicky motion controls, the Wii was, at the time, written off as an asinine product.
According to Forbes, Nintendo’s asinine product is the only home console system of this generation turning in a reasonable (if not only) profit so far, which means the company knew exactly what it was doing all along (or the employees prayed to the right money god).
Gearing the system toward the casual market, a market that up until now was ripe for the picking, Nintendo is…
Nintendo sells 500,000 DSis in Japan
Nintendo’s newest addition to its handheld family, the DSi, is being reported by Japanese media research company, Enterbrain, to having sold 535,379 units. The system launched November 1, 2008, and is already outselling its competition. I bet no one out there is surprised. (Well, most everyone.)
As of now, the DS family has sold 24,239,590 systems since December 2004 with half being sales of DS Lites. If this doesn’t prove everything Nintendo touches turns into a money printer, I don’t know what does.
The DSi features a…
Walmart’s Cyber Monday 2008 video game deals

Wal-Mart’s Cyber Monday deals are now in full effect. There is no shortage of games here at all. Granted a lot of them are titles a lot of us have never heard of before but the list is so expansive you’re bond to find something to pick up. The best deals have to be for Xbox 360 bundles that include Guitar Hero World Tour for $269. The game deals for DS, PS2, Xbox 360, Wii and PSP come in pairs for one price. With the exception of the PSP, you can choose two games for $30. The list in it’s entirety follows…
Aonuma will not stop until he makes a game better than Ocarina of Time
Eiji Aonuma, the director of Ocarina of Time and every subsequent Zelda title, recognizes that Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time is considered to be one of the best games ever. He’s made it clear that, in his lifetime, he will create an experience will be made that will successfully knock Ocarina of Time off of its proverbial throne…
Amazon’s Thanksgiving weekend, Cyber Monday 2008 game deals
By now we’ve licked our wounds and recovered from the madness that’s known as Black Friday. Even though waiting in long lines in blustery cold weather is over, deals on games are still running strong.
Amazon still has some pretty amazing deals that will last until Monday (December 1, 2008). For example, how would you like to own Far Cry 2 for $17.95 or Infinite Undiscovery for $18.95? Say what you will about some reviews but these games are certainly worth one Andrew Jackson. There are steals like these spread out across all consoles and this list will cover some of the most notable. Most of these games are eligible for free shipping if your total purchase exceeds $25. These bargains won’t be around for much longer so get to it…
Wii Speak can be purchased used after all
When Nintendo revealed that the Wii Speak Channel would be enabled through a one-off download ticket, consumers and retailers were a little disgruntled. Like most Nintendo peripherals, a lot of them are impulse buys that eventually make their way to the used game accessory bins in mom and pop shops or re-sold in GameStop’s plastic baggies all over the world.
Now, however, disgruntlement can be set aside as Nintendo as seemingly changed their minds about the one off download ticket system. According to Wii Fanboy, Nintendo of Europehas made the following statement regarding the download tickets:
Any consumer who may have misplaced their Wii Download Ticket number for the Wii Speak Channel or require a new number following a Wii exchange may contact their local Nintendo Customer Services department, where they can request a replacement Wii Download Ticket number.
That essentially means you can buy a used version of the microphone and get…
