Peter Moore, president of EA Sports, has announced that Madden 09 will not be released on PCs, only on standard gaming platforms. So you will only be able to pick up the latest football game for your DS, PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii and Xbox 360. Moore stated that part of EA Sports’ reasoning behind the decision is based on the fact that games released by that division of EA are more often purchased for actual video game systems, rather than for PCs.

EA’s popular Madden NFL franchise will be celebrating its 20th anniversary with Madden NFL 09 and EA has announced a special collector’s edition to mark the occasion. The Madden NFL 09 20th Anniversary Collector’s Edition  will include two games, Madden NFL 09 and NFL Head Coach 09, as well as bonus video content. EA Sports boss, Peter Moore, has designs of world domination that he spelled out to UK trade journal Market for Home Computing and Games (MCV). Don’t worry he is not building a private militia to conquer the world, but is charting EA’s course to reclaiming the top spot among third-party developers.   EA is trying hard to assuage the huge population of Hispanics in the US and, as part of this endeavor, Madden NFL 08 En Espanol for the PS2 and the Xbox 360 has been fully translated into Spanish. The translated game will be available in game stores beginning December 12, 2007.

It is just not the language which will appeal to the Hispanic gamers but the football star on the cover as well. Luis Castillo of the San Diego Chargers is the face aggrandizing the game’s cover.

This is part of a long list of initiatives taken by the NFL and NFL players in order to connect with their Spanish-speaking fan base. The NFL has typically played to the wishes of its Hispanic fans by beaming NFL programming in Spanish and conducting numerous charitable events involving NFL stars for the community, but now it is also going to use a football video game to keep them happy.

Madden NFL 08 En Espanol has a unique Read and React system, which allows gamers to identify the best performer on the field and make alterations accordingly. In addition the game features play-by-play commentary in Spanish. EA also found enough space for three exclusive Spanish chartbusters, Los Que Luchamos, Blame Me and Relax. In the Xbox 360 version of the game, game owners can stay updated with sports news in Spanish delivered via ESPNDeportes.The icing on the cake is probably the interoperability between the English and Spanish versions of the game, allowing owners of both to compete head-to-head online.

EA Sports today (July 10, 2007) announced a new licensed football game, NFL Tour, will be available for Xbox 360 and PS3 in January 2007.

The arcade-style football game takes players on a fictional NFL road show with real NFL players for teammates. Your team crosses the country to play NFL teams in newly designed stadiums, with the winner one step closer to a NFL contract. Maker EA Tiburon - which also created the Madden and NCAA football games - promises the game will have “intuitive controls, fast-paced gameplay and visually stunning graphics.“

For all those wondering where the non-EA NFL games have gone, EA signed an exclusive, five-year agreement with the National Football League and the NFL Players Inc. in 2004, granting the company sole rights to the NFL’s teams, stadiums and players.
