Mabinogi Generation 3’s first season has begun
A new season of Mabinogi has begun, and you know what that means - new items, new quests, new additions and new events. Generation 3 Season 1 (G3S1) kicked off August 21, 2008, and brought with it a slew of new material to enhance Nexon’s free-to-play massive multiplayer online (MMO) game. Two new Masters events, G3 Mainstream Masters and Battle Masters were also announced.
The changes to Mabinogi make the game more appealing with both cosmetic and gameplay additions. Eight new premium character eye and mouth choices were added, more skill shortcut keys were added and new pets are available for purchase in the premium shop. The pet system and pet’s AI have been updated, battle skills no longer have level caps and characters can get married. Of course there are also new story quests, for those who wish to pay for service…
Mabinogi celebrates the 2008 Olympics with pandas
In order to celebrate the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, Nexon has added a new pet to Mabinogi - the panda. Rather than just making the panda pet the only way to commemorate the occasion, Nexon is also holding two panda and Olympic related events in the game from August 7-28, 2008. Both events require players to use the premium cash shop to participate.
The first event requires you to purchase the limited edition panda pet for 7,900 NX/$7.90. After you buy him and see him in game, you’ll see he’ll be carrying a special panda gachapon item. This item contains either panda paws or a panda ear headband for your Mabinogi character to wear.
Mabinogi’s final season of Generation 2 starts tomorrow
The free-to-play massive multiplayer online rpg Mabinogi is going to experience a major update tomorrow (July 30, 2008). Season 4 of Generation 2 (G2S4) is going to begin, and with it will come new additions to the game and a new contest. Most of the new additions, however, seem to be premium shop items, so go pick a Nexon Game Card while you’re out today.
Mabinogi G2S4 is synonymous with three things - spirit weapons, pets and Peaca. A new dungeon will be added into the game, Peaca, and it is supposedly the most challenging one yet. There will also be seven new pets added to the premium shop, among them three new kinds of dogs, a white spider, a cow, a sheep and a pig. Players will also be able to create spirit weapons in the game.
Combat Arms exits the beta phase
Nexon’s free-to-play, MMOFPS (massive multiplayer online first person shooter) Combat Arms, has been officially released. That’s right, no more beta phases for you. From now on, the game should be absolutely perfect and ready for play. No more bugs or glitches! Just smooth battles against other players from around the country.
Quite a few additions have been made now that the game is no longer in beta. There are new weapons for players to wield, an extra game map to explore and fight in and a “Capture the Flag” game mode. Most importantly, the official launch of Combat Arms also means that the ranking system is working! Now players can see how they and their clan are doing, compared to other users.
Nexon’s Combat Arms is in the open beta phase
Nexon has just begun the open beta period for its first, free MMOFPS, Combat Arms” title="Combat Arms">Combat Arms. The open beta began July 1, 2008, and will run until Nexon launches the commercial version of the game is launched before the end of Summer 2008.
In Combat Arms, players are able to completely customize and arm a soldier. They can then go off and play in multiple gameplay modes against other players around the world, choosing to either to team up or fight alone. The game has in-game messengers and a clan system, in case players want to team up to succeed. The open beta update also includes a new map, new match settings and a Deathmatch mode. The game also has a tracking system built into it so you can determine how well you and your clan are doing.
Mabinogi prepares for summer fun
Summer has come to Mabinogi, and that means Nexon has made more stuff is available in game and in the premium shops. There are a few new challenges, new pets and new character cards all available to celebrate the summer season.
The summer style items are only available briefly, so you may want to check those out first. Until July 9, 2008, Summer Character Cards and a Nao Summer Dress will be available for purchase. The Nao Summer Dress is available from the in-game item shop and allows player to buy a new outfit for Nao, that can be given to her if you’re a subscriber who gets to visit her on your character’s birthday. The 9,500 NX ($9.50) Summer Character Card is available in the premium shop and allows players to create or rebirth a character with a special summer outfit. Australians and New Zealanders can play Mabinogi
Nexon has opened up Mabinogi to more regions. As of June 20, 2008, people from Australia and New Zealand can now register and play the casual, life-sim MMORPG. Previously, Mabinogi was released in North America on March 27, 2008, after being available in Korea since June 2004 and both Japan and China since early 2005.
Purchase pets in Mabinogi
Oh Nexon, you’re determined to make me pay for Mabinogi. The new, Generation 2 Season 2 update includes pets. Like most massive multiplayer online games, the pets are a premium item, and a pet card must be purchased from the Mabinogi Premium Shop if you want one in the game.
So far only five animals are available. There’s the yellow jindo dog (2,900NX/$2.90), the orange pixie cat (2,900NX/$2.90), the brown fox (4,200NX/$4.20), the gray wolf (4,900NX/$4.90) and the dark Russian Blue cat (5,500NX/$5.50). Each animal comes with its own skills and can enhance a players’ skills. After you’ve purchased an Animal Character Card and created a pet, you can either have it accompany your character or play as the pet in the game.
Mabinogi Generation 2 begins
This game moves faster than I can keep up. I didn’t even get to finish the Generation 1 story for Mabinogi, and already Generation 2’s begun. Of course I was trying to beat Gen 1 in the span of the two week free trials of Mabinogi services Nexon was offering in April, so it shouldn’t be too shocking. Generation 2: Paladin brings with it new storyline quests, the paladin skills, the city of Emain Macha, new dungeons, new enemies, new weapons and new magic spells. Nexon is also holding four contests to say farewell to Generation 1 and hello to Generation 2.

What $10 will buy in free MMOs
Free massively multiplayer online (MMO) games are abundant these days, but the free part is often deceptive. Yes, the games can be played and enjoyed without breaking out a credit card but many feature a premium shop filled with exclusive little goodies.
In some cases cash, shop purchases will allow players to customize their character or items (weapons, pets, etc.) bought from the shop can make adventuring a little easier. In the case of Mabinogi, for example, certain shop purchases even allow players to participate in special quests and storylines…
So I decided to take a look through the premium cash shops in some of Aeria, Nexon and Ntreev’s games and determine just how much fun $10 can buy in some of Aeria, Nexon and Ntreev’s free MMOs.
