New Wii, Fujifilm photo service lets Japanese gamers immortalize their Miis

by Jeremy Hill on Jul 23, 2008 at 04:38 PM

Fujifilm

While Sony and Microsoft decided to take the downloadable movie route in expanding consoles content, Nintendo thinks pictures are the way to go. Fujifilm and Nintendo have joined forces to bring an online photo service to Wii owners. Currently it’s only available in Japan but it could find its way stateside depending on the success rate.

The service works similarly to other…

Mario Kart

Nintendo’s ready to let Mario Kart Wii run loose with its infamous Wii Wheel on April 27, 2008. That’s another Sunday release for Nintendo after Super Smash Bros. Brawl on March 9, 2008. Does Reggie Fils-Aime have some sort of god complex?

Nintendo’s press release for Mario Kart Wii confirms online play with up to 11 others, and it should be easy to tell who’s who because everyone can…

Swag of the Day: Are You Looking at Mii? T-shirt

by PJ Hruschak on Dec 4, 2007 at 05:53 PM
gamertell check mii out shirt I received this shirt from Nintendo a few days ago, promoting the Miis that Wii owners can create on their console.

So here’s a slice of Nintendo’s Mii PiiR:

  • The Mii Channel now includes a Mii design contest. They give you a character to design (usually a Nintendo character or holiday related) and Wii console owners get kookie trying to create the best looking character.
  • They offer a few story ideas that include interviewing Mii artists, the Mii Channel as a alternate form of social interaction and a list of top 20 Miis on the Check Mii Out Channel.

This is one f the few promo shirts I’d actually wear. Not only is it a nice color green (darker than my image), but it’s also kinda funny. Even people who have not heard of the Wiis (*gasp*) and Miis will at least give a funny giggle when realizing “Mii” is pronounced “Me.”

Nintendo’s PiiR, sorry, PR people sure are doing a nice job this year with worthwhile campaigns. Not many legit journalists really use story suggestions from PR companies, but the game sure is doing well with exposure. I even saw it on a recent episode of How I Met Your Mother (all of the videos of that segment appear to have been removed from the usual video sites, so please give us a heads up if you see it posted again).

Along the lines of a Mii T-shirt, I also came across the MiiWaresite, where you can register your Mii and turn it into a T-shirt (kinda cool) for $18-21, sweatshirts for $35-38, mugs $15-19, mousepad for $15 (yikes!) and, best of all, mini statues (uber cool) for $50 (3 in.) and $100 (5 in).

Nintendo teases gamers with trademarks

by Lucy Newman on Sep 9, 2007 at 02:11 AM

Nintendo is up to somethingThere have been strange reports of Nintendo filing interesting trademarks lately.

One of the trademarks Nintendo is registering is actually a renewal for Miyamoto’s game Pikmin, which was hinted at several years ago. Perhaps they’re almost ready for the third installment of those cute little flower people. One could only guess that it may be coming to the Wii console if Nintendo is renewing the trademark.

The trademark Nintendo Magic is rumored to be a…
