Midway served delisting notice by the New York Stock Exchange
After posting a $76 million loss in revenue for the third quarter, Midway has been issued a delisting notice from the New York Stock Exchange. According to GameSpot UK, the notice came after the struggling developer failed to close above $1 a share, the minimum required closing price for the New York Stock Exchange, within 30 days of trading.
In order to avoid being delisted, Midway must…
Midway to perform fatalities on its staff after major title releases
I sure hope Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe is a good game.
Actually, I hope it is a great game not only because I consider myself a fan of the series but because it may be the only way in which Midway can pull itself out of the proverbial fire.
The company has been struggling of late to the point where it has had to go through some extreme measures just to complete one of its high-profile games. These struggles have resulted in staff members being handed pink slips in its Austin, TX (USA), studio.
Sadly, it’s looking like more…
Midway reporting profit losses
Midway was recently added to the list game-related companies reporting profit losses. Following suit with companies including Sony, Midway, the Chicago-based gaming giant behind Mortal Kombat, Area 51 and Unreal Tournament, has been losing money, too…
Download The Suffering for free at FileFront

There’s no better time to play horror games than now. Halloween is just around the bend so it’s high time we start shoving as many horror titles into our brains as physically possible. Case in point - The Suffering. The Suffering is now available through FileFront for free thanks to the United States Air Force (so expect a few ads). If that doesn’t scare you off, then brace yourself.
The Suffering was published by Midway back in 2004. You play as a man named Torque who’s sentenced to the penitentiary for…
John Tobias on Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe comic book
Last week, Midway released details about the Kollector’s Edition of Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe (MK vs. DC) which will be launching alongside the regular version of the game on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 next month (November 16, 2008 in North America; November 21, 2008 in Europe).
As previously detailed, the Kollector’s Edition will feature box artwork and a removable print by comic book artist Alex Ross (known for his work on the Kingdom Come series, among others) as well a 16-page comic book by co-creator of the Mortal Kombat franchise John Tobias…
Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe Kollectors Edition

Midway Games’ latest installment in the long running Mortal Kombat fighting series, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe (MK Vs. DC), will pit characters from the two franchises against each other when it launches on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in November 2008.
To celebrate the game’s launch, Midway will be releasing a special “Kollector’s Edition” of MK Vs. DC in North America next month. It will feature hand-painted box artwork by respected comic book artist Alex Ross, a removable print by Ross and bonus video content.
While all of the Mortal Kombat characters and DC villains will have access to the series’ trademark “fatalities” (powerful finishing moves), the goody two-shoes DC heroes will have their fatalities replaced by…
Download Area 51 for free
Who can say “no” to a free game? I certainly can’t do it, especially if the free game wasn’t all that bad to begin with. I’m referring to Area 51 which was released on the PS2, Xbox, and PC back in April 2005. Cruise on over to Strategy Informer to get in on all the alien splattering action.
The complete download will take up close to 2GB of space on your hard drive and features the voice talent of David Duchovny, Marilyn Manson and Powers Boothe. How’s that for a star-studded cast?
Area 51 is a…

Wheelman carted out for E3 2008

Upcoming game Wheelman seems like a take off of the Driver franchise with a couple of original additions.
First is Diesel. Both his voice and his likeness will be used to bring the Burik to life, if he succeeds, that is. Backing up Vin Diesel to help Midway make the game look like a movie is Tigon Studios. The chases are inspired by some of Hollywood’s most famous action sequences. Hopefully some inspired by the occasionally overly intricate chases in the Bourne trilogy of films will exist. Due to the inspiration from Hollywood’s most famous chases, it will apparently deliver powerful…
