Man hacks Chrono Trigger to propose to girlfriend

Guys using videogames to propose to their girlfriends is nothing new but this story officially raises the bar for nerdy romantics everywhere. 1UP is reporting that a man on YouTube, who goes by the username “TheRealPfhreak,“ recently decided to use the Square-Enix classic Chrono Trigger as the vehicle for his marriage proposal.
Only he didn’t just hack the game to make it display a special message but created an entire new area in the game for his girlfriend to explore, filled with references to their memories together. Said the groom-to-be:
“On October 17, 2008, I proposed to my (now) fiance. Originally I wanted to return to the site of our first date, Mount Baker, near Bellingham, Washington. Sadly, there was no discrete way to get her out there. So I turned to the next best thing, digitally recreating the mountain!
But why stop there?...
Gamer used Halo 3 to forge lifetime alliance
The world of hardcore gaming can be lonely. With all those hours glued to a couch fragging people online or running around on raids, it can be difficult to get out there and meet new people. Some gamers have turned to online dating sites to find their other half but there seems to be a new trend in the world of gaming. With the constant social interactions that multiplayer games offer, bonds have started to form and sometimes this can lead to players becoming more than teammates.
On November 3, 2007, an Xbox Live user with the gamertag “Moviesign” used Halo 3’s multiplayer mode in a most unusual way. He wasn’t cheating in any way, but he used the to propose to his girlfriend of over two years, “furtive penguin.”
According to the story, “Moviesign” invited his girlfriend to a multiplayer game that was supposed to be just a two-on-two match using a level created with The Forge. They started out and “Moviesign” asked “furtive penguin” to follow him to a place where he had hidden an energy sword. When they got there they found not only one but multiple energy swords, but along with those there were other weapons (both human and Covenant) carefully arranged on the floor in a pattern that formed the words “MARRY ME?” The answer was yes and they posted an image capturing the moment.
I’m sure Bungie didn’t see that one coming but I guess we will be seeing different and innovative uses for this system more frequently. Congrats to both of them and hats off to “Moviesign” for the most creative use of The Forge yet.
