Kirby clouds invaded the skies
Back on Tuesday, Gamertell reported that Nintendo was going to be holding a mystery event yesterday (September 18, 2008) promoting Kirby Super Star Ultra at various locations with “Kirby” in the name. It turns out the ‘event’ was Nintendo and Flogos releasing thousands of Kirby-shaped clouds into the air. So if you live in Birmingham AL, Medford, NJ, Memphis, TN or Kingston, PN and you thought you saw pink Kirbys floating through the air, you’re weren’t hallucinating. You were just seeing a really cool marketing promotion.
Gamertell reader Brian left a tip on the original story, alerting us to the presense of Kirby clouds and mentioning that Flogos‘ clouds are made of biodegradable soap and used to promote items and events. For today’s event, the company used its machines to create pink iconic game character replicas. In an official press release from Nintendo, Greg Stanhope of Flogos stated that the Kirby clouds mark Flogos’ first use of colored clouds for a campaign…
Nintendo holding special events for Kirby Super Star Ultra
A cryptic Nintendo press release has revealed a special event for this Thursday (September 18, 2008). Nintendo is going to be at Kirby Middle School in Birmingham, AL, Kirby Historical Mill in Medford, NJ, Kirby Park in Kingston, PA and Kirby Gate Shopping Center in Memphis, TN for a “Celestrial Event.“ Of course it’s talking about Kirby Super Star Ultra, the remake of the SNES game Kirby Super Star.
Nintendo hasn’t discussed what kind of goings-on will be happening at any of the four locations. The press release just states that at 8:30am-12:30pm Central time and 9:30am-1:30pm Eastern time, something special will be going down. Also, it states that someone from Nintendo will be giving interviews at Kirby Middle School. Since it says Nintendo authority, it could be an official representative, or maybe even Kirby himself.
Kirby Super Star Ultra update from E3 2008
Kirby was not forgotten during E3 2008. Our favorite pink eating machine will be featured in a remake of the SNES title Kirby Super Star for the Nintendo DS called Kirby Super Star Ultra. The game will be released on September 22, 2008, and will feature everything we remember in the original plus updated graphics, fully rendered cut scenes, multiplayer and some DS-influenced mini games.
The basic gameplay in Kirby Super Star Ultra has Kirby going from one end of the stage to the other while absorbing different abilities from enemies. If you don’t feel like eating them you call always…
Kirby Super Star returns as Kirby Super Star Ultra
A new Kirby game is headed to the DS! Well, technically it is an old Kirby game made new again. Nintendo has announced that Kirby Super Star Ultra, a remake of the SNES game Kirby Super Star will be released on September 29, 2008. (I know I said I wanted to try to only write about music games, but we can let this slide.)
Kirby Super Star Ultra is getting the super star treatment in this remake. The visuals will be tweaked and optimized, and there will be fully animated cut scenes inserted into the game. There will also be two new game modes - Revenge of the King (likely starring King Dedede) and Meta Knight Ultra (again, likely starring Meta Knight). There will also be new multiplayer functions added, in the form of three mini-games playable over local wi-fi and the ability to play the game over local wi-fi.
Kirby chorus dances on YouTube

If you love Kirby, or simply have a penchant for adorable pink things dancing around to a lively tune, then there is a video on YouTube you have got to see. It is a festive video of three, then five, Kirby clones happily dancing. If you remember the adorable victory dances Kirby would do after defeating a boss in one of the video games, then you’ll receive a pleasant blast of nostalgia while watching the video.
