Take care of Tamagotchi planets in your iPod
Tamagotchis still have a fanbase, after all these years. And that fanbase is going to be extremely pleased with Tamagotchi: ‘Round the World from Namco Bandai. It is the very first Tamagotchi game for the iPod, and has players picking a partner Tamagotchi (Mametchi, Memetchi, Kuchipachi or Violetchi) to help them save three planets by interacting with the planet’s Gaiatchi (environmental aspects). It costs $4.99, is for 3G and 4G nanos, iPod classics and 5G iPods and is a 33.7mb download.
There are two basic goals in Tamagotchi: ‘Round the World - make the planets happy and make your Tamagotchi friend happy. You make the planet happy by playing six mini-games with different Gaiatchi on the planet, and you make your Tamagotchi happy by playing three different games with it. You can also complete a virtual stampbook and listen to your own music while playing the game. It also looks incredibly colorful and cute…
Beer Bounce hits on the (hic) iPhone (hic) and iPod Touch (burp)
Now here is a game we’re almost certain to hear more about in the coming weeks as parents from all over join up to save the children. As if Frat Party Games: Pong Toss (formerly known as Frat Party Games: Beer Pong) wasn’t enough to quell the idea of game centered around beer, Publisher X is ready to dive head first into the madness by releasing Beer Bounce for the iPhone and iPod touch for $2.99.
The object of this game may be familiar to some. You have to try to bounce a quarter, or another type of international coinage, into a glass of beer to win. Failure to do so will result in the chugging of beer after beer. As you become progressively wasted, the screen will begin to get blurry and weave about, making gameplay even more difficult. You may even get a laugh or two as your buddies and fellow bar patrons throw insults at you.
This 6.8MB game is getting great reviews on iTunes so far. It’s a cheap way to get a quick thrill without getting the authorities involved.

Testing tracks for Tune Troopers
Square Enix’s recent iPod release, Song Summoner: The Unsung Heroes requires a lot of patience. Not because it is a strategic RPG, mind you, but because you’ll have to sift through quite a few songs in the Hip-O-Drome before you find some truly worthy Tune Troopers that can be used in battle.
I spent over an hour yesterday, just testing tracks in the game and seeing what would come from them. At one point, I abandoned logical assessment (15 minutes in), and decided to just have fun with it. The result was a selection of popular, video game related and obscure tracks being plugged in to see what came out. Would a “One Winged Angel” trooper trump an “Aerith’s Theme?“ How would a classic track, like “Bohemian Rhapsody,“ fare against a top 10 pop hit like “Bleeding Love?“ Would other Square Enix songs, or other video game songs in general, create stronger warriors? I tested it so you don’t have to.
Since the creation guidelines aren’t clear yet, I’m not sure if others will get the same results. So I’m including all the information about the tracks I plugged in, in case song length, my rating of the song or how I sorted it effects the resulting Tune Trooper.
Four quick tips for sturdy Tune Troopers in Song Summoner for iPod
I’ve owned Song Summoner: The Unsung Heroes for less than a day and already I am developing an unhealthy obsession for the Square Enix’s strategic RPG created exclusively for the iPod.
This isn’t enough time to craft a full-on review (that will come in a day or two) but an hour crafting Tune Troopers and a few hours of playing have provided me with a rudimentary education. I’ve learned a few tricks while playing which have been helpful in crafting a solid foundation for troop formation.
So the following are a few tricks to help you in creating your first few Tune Troopers and earning “S” ranks for your first battles…
