by Janine Dong on Jul 10, 2008 at 08:57 PM

gamertell kotobukiya logoBorn as the entrepreneurial venture of Jusaburo Shimizu in 1947, Kotobukiya’s began as a single toy store for dolls. Now, Kotobukiya has developed itself to be one of the heavy-hitters when it comes to popular anime/video game/movie figures, busts, statues and model kits that include some big name licenses (Star Wars, Halo, Final Fantasy, Hulk, Dead or Alive and Indiana Jones to name just the tip of the iceberg). Always thriving for quality without exception, Kotobukiya is sharing the love with its English-speaking market by creating a website interface that is easier to navigate and feels very similar to…

Gamertell Review: The Incredible Hulk movie

by Christopher Buckner on Jun 18, 2008 at 12:20 PM

hulk movieTitle: The Incredible Hulk
Release Date: June, 13, 2008
Publisher (Developer): Marvel Films, Universal Studios
Rating: PG-13
Pros: Good acting, plenty of action, lots of Marvel fan boy easter eggs, great music, solid story, Hulk effects good
Cons: General effects are okay, has some missing plot points, lacks enough dialogue
Overall Score: One thumb up, one sideways; 80/100; B-; * * * our of five

This Hulk film isn’t a sequel to the 2003 Ang Lee adaption but is instead a completely new start for the franchise, although it doesn’t completely ignore the 2003 film. In this latest version, it is stated that Bruce Banner (Edward Norton) has been the Hulk for five years and that he is on the run in South America, which is where the 2003 film left off.

If anything, this new film really has more in common with the comic book and the classic ‘70s television series then anything else…

Trouble for The Incredible Hulk?

by Danielle Riendeau on Apr 16, 2008 at 11:22 AM

Hulk
It looks like the upcoming The Incredible Hulk film is in danger of becoming the latest comic book flop, according to a post at Icv2. It seems as if disputes between star/co-writer Edward Norton and Marvel studios are creating some serious bad buzz in Hollywood. The article also points out the heavy competition from other action and comic book flicks the film will have to face this summer (including the super-hyped Iron Man, Hellboy 2, Wanted and Hancock), along with the fact that the previous Hulk movie (Hulk, 2003) was a huge flop five years ago.

Well, it’s a mighty competitive market, but that’s a good thing for comic fans. Not long ago, comic book films were on par with videogame movies (i.e. terrible and marketed exclusively towards twelve year olds), the fact that they’re now bringing in talented filmmakers and massive star power is quite cool. We’ll see whether The Incredible Hulk sinks or swims on June 13, 2008.

The Incredible Hulk returns to theaters Summer 2008

by Christopher Buckner on Mar 15, 2008 at 06:24 PM

the incredible hulkWhen Marvel Comics and Universal Studios originally announced they were planning on making a new update to the Incredible Hulk, I, like many fans, was skeptical about another Hulk movie coming out so soon after the original, dismal, 2003 Ang Lee Hulk movie. That move was slammed by critics and fans for its mediocre special effects, bad acting and poor plot. Well, apparently both Marvel and Universal Studios still believe that there is some hope yet for the big, mean, green machine.

This week, the first official trailer for the new Incredible Hulk movie was released and, right off the bat, you can see the…
