Hudson’s PAX 2008 lineup

Bomberman BlastExcited for the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) this weekend? Hudson certainly is, as it’s unveiling two of the most hotly anticipated WiiWare titles (probably ever) at the event - Bomberman Blast and Alien Crush Returns. Both are WiiWare entries from established, beloved franchises that haven’t been done to death on the current console generation (let’s forget that weird Xbox Bomberman iteration, shall we?), and both have sweet multiplayer features.

Deca Sports hitting the Wii just in time for Olympic training

by Jenni Lada on Jan 4, 2008 at 01:45 PM

Snowboarding in Deca Sports

Game publishers are getting into the Olympic spirit, what with the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games fast approaching. That is probably what prompted Hudson Entertainment to schedule Deca Sports for the Wii for a the summer 2008 release. Like Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, Deca Sports features a number of different athletic events to participate in using the Wiimote. Unlike Mario & Sonic, it features generic athletes compete rather than lovable video game icons.

As can be inferred from the title, Deca Sports features ten different events for players to compete in. While the release will likely coincide with the games in China, Hudson has chosen to try and make the title more timeless by including a variety of activities. Archery, badminton, basketball, beach volleyball, curling, figure skating, go karts, snowboarding, soccer and supercross are all reported to be available to play with friends or against in game components.

Personally, I can’t understand why so many general sports titles like this are made. Wii Sports comes with the system, and you would think that would have enough variety for most people.
