Father shoots son over video game

According to PoconoNews.net, James Niedosik of Jackson Township, PA has been arrested for allegedly shooting his son over a poorly understood dispute regarding an Xbox game screen. Apparently, the man’s 17-year-old son wanted his father to look at “the graphics on the game screen”, and when he refused, the boy handed him a 22-caliber rifle and told the man to shoot him. Niedosik fired once, hitting his son in the mouth. The boy is now in the hospital (in unknown condition), while Niedosik is being held on $250,000 bail on assault, reckless endangerment, and endangering a child’s welfare charges.
Is it just me, or are videogame violence stories getting progressively more insane? In the last few months, we’ve had the teenagers who beat a child to death using “Mortal Kombat moves”, the Chinese teen who set a schoolmate on fire because he thought he was a Fire Mage, and now… this. This particular story just doesn’t make any sense - first the father refused to look at his son’s game, then the kid hands him a gun, then dad shoots him? At least we aren’t seeing the mainstream media trying to blame videogames on the incident.
