Gametrailers and E3 coordinate cooperative coverage
Here’s yet another pair of companies who seem determined to expose the inner workings of E3 to the world, thus nullifying the invitation-only standard for the exposition. Viacom underling and member of the MTV entertainment group Gametrailers has shacked up with E3 Insider (the Expo’s official web site) to cover E3 2007 with lots and lots of cameras. The two sites will be posting interviews with industry insiders, showing demos and providing live coverage of the Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo press conferences.
I can’t speak very well for E3 2006 but it seems like the media blitz for this year’s E3 (2007) has reached truly monolithic proportions. The number of media outlets that are touting hardcore coverage of this event is truly staggering and the feeding frenzy of information is something that I’ve never witnessed before.
Here’s hoping that this increased interest in video games will only provide consumers with better products and inform the public about what a great thing video games are.
