This news comes shortly after the launch of the new Scorpio server on November 11, 2008. The new update means there are more characters, things to do and places to see. Of course, like all MMOs, Trickster Online Revolution is going to be celebrating the event with in-game events for players and contests. Rule a nation again in NationStates 2’s open beta

by Jenni Lada on Nov 4, 2008 at 02:33 PM

NationStates 2 logoWhat timing! The open beta of NationStates 2 has picked Election Day 2008 (November 4) as the launch date! NationStates 2 is the latest version of NationStates, a primarily text-based, free-to-play, browser game where you create a nation and then answer questions and issues to improve and shape your own state. So if you’re not satisfied with how the elections turn out tonight, you can create your own nation and do it your way.

You begin by “creating” an account and nation. You provide a motto, a currency, pick how big a world you want your nation to be in, pick a flag, decide on a national animal, name your newspaper and appoint a capital city. You then answer 10 setup questions to help create your nation’s initial standing.

I’d like to tell you what happens after that, and perhaps provide a screenshot, but I can’t…

Golemizer gets player-created quests

by Jenni Lada on Nov 3, 2008 at 03:38 PM

GolemizerIt seems like, when Dave Toulouse stated that Golemizer was going to be a sandbox, browser-based MMORPG, he meant it. One of the goals of Golemizer is to provide an immersive experience with plenty of opportunities for players to interact with one another and the game environment. Now that players are able to create their own quests, which can then be shared with the whole community, the game has become much more interactive.

The player-created quests aren’t too complicated yet, but the template allows for some diversity. A quest creator NPC has been added to the game, and if you talk to this character, you can create a talk to, deliver item to, defeat this opponent or provide information quest. After you’ve set up your quest, a Golemizer administrator reviews it. If it works and isn’t offensive, then it will become a part of the game and available to every Golemizer player…
