New figures of buxom beauties Ivy, Morrigan coming Fall 2008
Making the bounding leap from screen to shelf, Soul Calibur 3‘s Ivy and Darkstalkers‘ Morrigan are being produced as fine quality PVC models of their polygonal counterparts. For such perfection, however, buyers should not only be willing to sell their souls to these sirens, but also relinquish some seriously hard earned moolah.

Japanese Import: R2-D2 makes for the coolest garbage can ever
Recently made available on the Japanese goodies site, You Buy Now, is one of the most glorious, beautiful trash cans I have ever seen. Yes, it is R2-D2 and yes, the lid flips back.
The can is produced by gentle Giant, makers of some of pretty fun and realistic toys including many based on Star Wars, Terminator and The Simpsons. The only bad part is that it costs $149.99.
From the site’s product description:
Imported from Japan, the R2-D2 Trash Can operates via a foot pedal that lifts the little droid’s “head” to reveal a removable waste receptacle. Compatible with any bathroom-sized trash bags, this 23 in. tall R2-D2 figure will hold your trash (or dirty diapers) until ready for disposal. A must for any diehard Star Wars fan’s household. R2-D2 has to take a lot of garbage from C-3PO, and now he can take some from you as well!
This is an official Star Wars licensed product and is being sold only in Japan. Not sure I’d use it for dirty diapers at that price, though I might consider placing all my Jedi prayers and offerings in it.

Japanese Import: Odin Final Fantasy IX figure by Kotobukiya
Yet another amazing figure/statue in the Master Creatures 2 series is being released by Kotobukiya. This figure is of of Odin from Final Fantasy IX and has been created by master sculptor Takayuki Takeya.
There are only two of these available from this site and each costs $32. Here’s a brief bit of background from the site:
“This fantastic model is of the dark and ominous Odin summon from the Final Fantasy IX game for Playstation [released in 2000]. Measuring at 5 inches tall, this highly detailed work of art is fully painted and made of high quality PVC.“
According to a competitor’s site, however, the figure may actually be 6 1/2 in. tall. Either way, it looks pretty firggin’ cool. Like other figures in this series, they are released in Japan before the US so if you import it, you’ll be the coolest collectibles kid on the block for at least a few weeks.

Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 2 promo figure
Namco-Bandai recently sent me a copy of Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 2 for PS2 to review (currently in stores), along with a promotional figure.
The figure appears to have been made in 2002 (from the “Copyright 2002 Masashi Kishimoto” sticker on the bottom) and is one of six in the Naruto Figure Series 2 figures: Naruto, Sasuke, Kakashi, Neji, Rock Lee and Orochimaru.
I received Sasuke and I’m sure other journalists received one random figure. My Sasuke figure came in six pieces, with most of it consisting of separated pieces of the purple fiery swirl that surrounds Sasuke and a flat base piece to hold it all together.
