Best Buy’s sign blunder stirs up interesting blog chatter, store denies typo
What in the world is wrong with Best Buy getting all the Final Fantasy fanatics like myself stirred up? When I heard that Best Buy was releasing a Final Fantasy VII remake for the Playstation 3, I was ready to hop into my car - fluffy blue bunny slippers, powder-blue bunny pajamas and all - to speed down there to make reservations.
You would think Final Fantasy fans worldwide would know when the best game in the series is going to be released. We watch Square-Enix site for any tidbit of news the company has. No joke, check out this video someone took of an actual sign at Best Buy…
New FFVII Play Arts figures imminent

Start saving up your Christmas cash, because Square Enix is expecting orders in the beginning of January. Square Enix has just announced that three new Final Fantasy VII Play Arts figures will be available in their online store on January 3, 2008. Cloud, Tifa and Aerith are appearing in their FFVII attire, and like most of the other Play Arts figures, they will cost $24.99. Quite convenient, considering a purchase from their store has to be over $23.00 before they’ll consider looking at it and sending it to you.
Now remember to keep in mind that FFVII Play Arts Cloud is not to be confused with FFVII: Advent Children Play Arts Cloud. See, FFVII: AC Cloud has slightly different hair, a tarp over one arm and a marginally cooler sword. He also costs $5 less. Both feature the same apathetic look though, so it evens out a bit. And you can’t go confusing either of those Cloud figures with FFVII: AC Play Arts Cloud and Fenrir, which comes with a motorcycle. Okay, I guess if you remove the motorcycle he’s just plain old FFVII: AC Cloud again.

Second series of Final Fantasy mini figures announced
Even though the first series of the Final Fantasy Miniature Trading Figures has only just been released, a second series has just been unveiled. Square Enix will be releasing Final Fantasy Miniature Trading Figures Vol. 2 in Japan in April, 2008. Play-Asia is taking preorders for the $4.90 figurines.
Like the first series, the second series will again feature five characters from the Final Fantasy series. The figures also will be randomly boxed again, so you won’t know which character is inside until it is opened. The five characters appearing in the second series are Tifa (FFVII), Squall (FFVIII), Auron (FFX), Ashe (FFXII) and Basch (FFXII).
I wonder where the love is for the earlier Final Fantasy characters. So far the two series have only covered FFVII onward. It’d like to see a Terra, Edgar or Setzer figurine. The first series characters were adorable (I ended up being lucky enough to score a Cloud), so the second series will definitely be worth a look.

JBox stocks Final Fantasy VII 10th anniversary potion sets
Fans of Final Fantasy who missed picking up a potion before are in for a treat because JBox has received a brand new shipment. These aren’t the same potion cans as before though, they’re even better. These Final Fantasy VII 10th anniversary potion sets come packaged with a limited edition Trading Arts FFVII figurine.
Each can has one of eight different scenes from the FFVII: Advent Children movie and comes with one of eight random figures. The can is filled with a health/energy drink made by Suntory, a popular drink manufacturer centered in Osaka, Japan. The eight available figures are FFVII: Advent Children Cloud, FFVII Cloud, FFVII: Advent Children Sephiroth, FFVII Vincent, FFVII Tifa, Crisis Core: FFVII Zach, Crisis Core: FFVII Aeris and FFVII: Advent Children Reno and Rude.
The cans are in limited supply, so hurry up and get your orders in. The potion costs $25 and is currently in stock in Japan. Usually the folks at JBox will try to make sure you don’t get doubles when you order multiple items, but since they can’t determine which figure is in the package without opening it, everything is up to chance this time. They do state on the site that they will try their best to make sure that each order will at least get different cans.
