by Kris Rosado on Nov 12, 2008 at 11:01 PM

fable 2 screen shot

Did you finish Fable 2 yet? Did you manage to sneak your way passed the game’s life ruining bugs and glitches? I managed to finish it twice with only one character stuck in infinite turmoil thanks to the “Abbot glitch”. But if you did manage to finish it, then a recent tease on the Lionhead blog should tickle your curiosity as it has ours…

Fable 2 patches coming soon, missing Limited Edition codes in the mail

by Kris Rosado on Oct 27, 2008 at 08:06 PM

gamertell fable 2 mini screen shotKotaku got in touch with Lionhead Community Manager, Sam Van Tilburgh, to see how things were coming along in regards to both a patch that is supposed to fix the “Abbot Glitch,“ a few other bugs and those missing Limited Edition game codes.

The “Abbot glitch” is a bug in the game where if a player decides to walk away from the chatty man, the Abbot will lock up, not saying anything and therefore freezing the quest into place. Players will not be able to finish the quest or the…

Busted: Man charged with theft of nearly 100 copies of Gears of War 2, Fable 2

by Jeremy Hill on Oct 21, 2008 at 01:34 PM

gamertell handcuffsRecently we’ve seen an influx of reports about Gears of War 2 being leaked onto a number of torrent sites. These days it’s very difficult to pinpoint where the original copies of pirated games come from especially with all the corners of the internet to hide behind. According to a report from Commercial Appeal, one man from Memphis, TN, (USA) isn’t so lucky.

Rodney Gray, an employee for Technicolor - a company that “provides disc and game packaging, warehousing, distribution and production” - was picked up by police officers conducting an investigation. According to the police affidavit, police pulled Gray over and found 31 games in a bag in his car. They later searched his home and found…

by Jeremy Hill on Oct 9, 2008 at 07:37 PM

Fable 2

What a relief. Just when we thought Fable 2 fans were ready to take up arms in response to the announcement that the game would not be shipping with online cooperative play, Lionhead Studios goes and pulls a fast one on us. According to a post by Sam on the Fable 2 dev blog, the team has managed to include online co-op into Fable 2 and is now awaiting certification. Fable 2 will be released for Xbox 360 on October 21, 2008, in North America.

The online component is so enticing because…

Original Xbox games with original flaws

by Christian Morlotte on Nov 15, 2007 at 08:16 PM

Xbox LIVE Just recently Microsoft announced it was launching a service through Xbox Live that will allow users to download titles from the original Xbox to their consoles. Apparently all the games Microsoft is offering at the moment through their new service, called Xbox Originals, have flaws. The issues range from choppy graphics and sound glitches to complete crashes.

Any extra content that the original games had like demos or trailers will not be supported and selecting any of those will result in a crash that will require a reboot of the Xbox 360 console. These glitches, excluding the ones regarding the demos and extra stuff, appeared on the original discs, so they weren’t introduced by this new service.

Here are the issues for each specific title:

  • Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge: There is some minor flickering at the top of the screen that happens very rarely. The “Press A to Continue” message is missing when the host player leaves a multiplayer game. Additional content within the game (such as demos & trailers) are not supported and selecting those options may result in crashing the game (requiring a restart of the console)
  • Fable: There are some random bursts of audio static and some minor texture issues and a short hang up when removing tattoos. Additional content within the game (such as demos & trailers) are not supported and selecting those options may result in crashing the game (requiring a restart of the console)
  • Fuzion Frenzy: There are some minor frame rate issues. Additional content within the game (such as demos & trailers) are not supported and selecting those options may result in crashing the game (requiring a restart of the console)
  • Halo: There are some very mild frame rate drops.
  • Psychonauts: HDMI 720p is not supported for PAL users. Running the game in 720p over HDMI will result in the game locking up for PAL users. If you are using HDMI output, set the resolution to 1080i or 1080p (anything but 720p).

When I first heard about this I thought Microsoft was at it again but the issues are minor and were part of the original titles. It would have been great if the glitches were fixed since glitches, no matter how they originated are still not OK. If I wanted to play the first Super Mario Bros I would never be willing to blow into my console to make the game work again.
