Wolfenstein
At E3 2008, Activision and a representative of id announced that they are working on a follow up for Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Details at the moment are hard to find, outside of the press conference given at E3.

For those of you who haven’t been too involved with the evolution of Wolfenstein, id took the franchise for a turn that made it more popular in 1992 with…

One of the great long-standing game franchises is =Castlevania. Early on, the game was a side-scrolling adventure or an RPG (usually side-scrolling). Now it is getting its first fighting game and a next-gen face lift with Castlevania Judgment.

The game will feature the best known heroes and most vile allies of Dracula, amounting to 14 usable characters in an all out brawl. If you ever wanted to cause infighting for who the best vampire slayer is, now you will be able to. You will also be able to find out general in Dracula’s legions of the damned is the most effective. Resident Evil 5 impresses at E3

by Kenneth on Jul 17, 2008 at 08:01 AM

Resident Evil 5 has been shaping up to be one of the most anticipated and controversial title within the franchise.  Due to Capcom’s brilliant idea of discussing a movie for an entire hour during their press conference we were left with no new information on RE5.  But Capcom wasn’t going to completely pull a fast one the folks at E3 as they released a new trailer, some co-op gameplay footage, and some info surrounding the control scheme.

The plot surrounding the game is still pretty vague as of this moment but here’s what we know:  The game will take place ten years after the events in RE  and Chris Redfield is the…

The big deal about LittleBigPlanet and “coopertition”

by Jeremy Hill on Jul 16, 2008 at 04:05 PM

LittleBigPlanet

Sony has been putting a lot of muscle behind hyping up LittleBigPlanet. It is one of the big name titles that is going to be released in October of 2008. From what we’ve seen LittleBigPlanet prides itself on being a seemingly endless experience. Just about anything can be created and shared through the PlayStation Network. It’s also one of the first games to heavily rely on user-created content.

Media Molecule coined the phrase “coopertition” when describing some of the unique stages…

Recap of Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s E3 2008 keynote address

by PJ Hruschak on Jul 16, 2008 at 01:24 PM

gamertell gov perry e3 2008Yeah, it’s a bit of a weird choice for a videogame keynote address, but Texas Gov. Rick Perry took the stage and talked today (9:15 a.m. PT, July 16, 2008) at E3 2008.

In his defense, Perry was pretty gushing about the videogame industry in a recent interview with the San Antonio Express-News, giving kind words to the money making power of the industry and expanding demographics of games.

According to the GamePolitics Live Blog (via Twitter so don’t blame me for the clicking), there were approximately 50 people who attended Perry’s keynote. That’s a pretty small crowd for a politician’s speech but likely because he’s not a name in the game industry and there are so many games to play at the Expo.

Even so, here’s bullet point style recap of Perry’s rather upbeat keynote…

Square Enix bringing Final Fantasy XIII to Xbox 360, shows new trailer

by Janine Dong on Jul 16, 2008 at 11:45 AM

Final Fantasy XIII Lightning Kick
Square Enix’s great ground-breaking news at the 2008 Electronics Entertainment Expo is the announcement that they would be developing Final Fantasy XIII for the XBOX 360. Final Fantasy XIII is the flagship title for the Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy XIII collection which includes Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII.  Therefore, many assumptions for the release of the game were thought that it would be a Playstation 3 exclusive.

Naturally encountering mixed feelings about this decision from the fans, Square Enix’s strategy in porting over Final Fantasy XIII should be…

PlayStation video store goes live

by Jeremy Hill on Jul 16, 2008 at 10:31 AM

PSN movie download service

At the time of this writing (10:47p.m. CT, July 15, 2008), I'm checking out the newly released Playstation movie download store as promised by Jack Trenton during Sony’s E3 press conference earlier today. I must say the store has launched with an impressive number of titles. You can download both movies and television shows. Everything is broken down into genre categories. You can also search for titles alphabetically.

One of the first things I’ve noticed was the tabs that direct you to titles that can be rented or purchased. Sixty-five movies from the action/adventure genre are…

A little more about Call Of Duty: World At War

by Jonathan Gronli on Jul 16, 2008 at 08:49 AM

CoD WaW POW
After its trip into modern warfare, the Call of Duty franchise is returning to the World War II time frame. The big difference is that it will be focusing on a new front in the war to end all wars. Call of Duty: World at War will be focusing on the Pacific theater as you island hop your way to victory or death.

Details on this new CoD release are sparse but from the information coming out, there is really not that much that innovates in terms of the war/shooter experience. It’s not developed by Infinity Ward, the company behind CoD2/CoD4. It’s developed by Treyarch, the developers of CoD3 and will be available for the Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Wii.

One of the details that has been released is that it will have a darker, grittier undertone that will…
