Many game companies, analysts disappointed with E3 2008
Not many attendees were impressed with this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). During an interview held Thursday, (July 17, 2008) Shigeru Miyamoto, Nintendo’s senior managing director and general manager of entertainment analysis and the development division, told MSNBC that even though many fans of long running Nintendo franchise games such as Mario, Zelda or even StarFox were upset he felt that E3 was no longer a place for those types of game.

E3 is not dead. Long live E3!
There’s been no shortage of doomsayers predicting that this year’s E3 was the end of the road for the once-mighty expo. Not so, according to a post at Gamespot. The show will go on, at least for another year…
ESA’s 2008 report: Forty percent of gamers are women
Maybe it’s time to start rewriting some of those rote gamer cliches. You know, like, “Your mom is such a gamer.“ Statistically, thats not so far-fetched.
According to the ESA’s (Entertainment Software Association’s) annual report released during E3 2008, 40 percent of all gamers are women older than 18 and a quarter are older than 50. That’s up from 38 percent and 24 percent, respectively, from the 2007 release (PDF). The average age of gamers also ticked up to 35 from 33.
This is the sort of data that plays right into the…
Gamertell Mashup: Our favorite E3 2008 announcements

Every E3 there are plenty of announcements and everyone claims their is the biggest, most important and whatevertheheck else. There were fewer hardware announcements than most years with more concentration on games, developing console interfaces and content options.
Not too surprisingly, most of the staff picks for their favorite E3 2008 announcements were somehow related to Microsoft’s Xbox 360. There was, of course, a sole dissenter.
Give it a read and then let us know what your favorite announcement was from E3 2008…

Nintendo’s most embarrassing moments at E3 2008

Did you watch Nintendo’s E3 conference? Then you probably cringed a few times. The Minus World has an awesome list of the top five most embarrassing moment’s of Nintendo’s press event, including Cammie Dunaway’s tales of snowboarding woe and the awkward moments of silence from the crowd at each “big announcement”. The funniest of the moments happens at number two, aptly titled: “Nobody Knew How To Actually Control Anything”:
“Reggie demoed a jet ski mini game by waving his arms wildly and erratically steering like a kamikaze alcoholic stunt car driver and we were left more confused than informed. Next time hire somebody who actually plays video games to, you know, actually play your video game.“
Nice. I have to say, I thought the most embarrassing moment was Reggie’s statement that he was “The Regginator” but I suppose that was funny (or crazy) enough to qualify as “awesome” instead of ‘embarrassing”. Oh well. Check out the list for the rest - with a few wonderful pictures to illustrate the hilarity.
