Japan Osaka Nipponbashi Den Den Town Maids Cosplay
When gamers think of electronics and video game shopping in Japan, most people name Tokyo’s Akihabara as its epitome. However, not many may know that Osaka, Japan, has an Akihabara equivalent named Den-Den Town.

Much like Akihabara, Den-Den Town is chock full of otaku goodness. Just a few years ago, one could actually count the number of video game and figure specialty shops on one hand but now it seems to have experienced a growth explosion.

Den-Den Town (Nipponbashi) is short for Denki no Machi (which means Electric Town in Japanese) and as a place that was once famous for its variety of…

Own life-size Gears of War replicas

by Jenni Lada on Jun 3, 2008 at 10:04 AM

The Gears of War armor by Sid Garrand and Nightmare Armor Studios that appeared in a summer 2007 issue of the Official XBox 360 Magazine and on Kotaku
The latest news from TriForce Sales is a little bit creepy, and kind of delves into “obsessive super fan” territory. Epic Games has given TriForce permission to recreate life-size models of both armor and weapons from the Gears of War Xbox 360 and PC series. Yes, starting on July 8, 2008, loyal fans can preorder items at the official TriForce Gears of War website. No prices have been announced yet.

Prototypes of the armor and weapons were displayed at Wizard World Philadelphia, which was this past weekend (May 31, 2008). The items up for sale were displayed and a panel discussion with Garrand and Lester Speight (Gears of War‘s Augustus Cole) was held. The items will likely resemble the pictures of Garrand and the Nightmare Armor Studios team that appeared in a 2007 issue of Official Xbox 360 Magazine and on Kotaku on June 25, 2007.

Japanese Import: Hello Kitty costume for adults

by PJ Hruschak on Sep 2, 2007 at 01:51 PM

Gamertell Hello Kitty costume JBox JList

Our favorite Japanese import site, J-List (J-Box), is already in the Halloween spirit. Check out the crazy adult sized Hello Kitty costume. Available for $28, this colorful kit will not only frighten your neighbors but make you a cultural icon to thousands of screaming Japanese girls.

It’s a two-piece, single-size (or “free style” as the site calls it) costume that includes a full body suit and a rubber face mask. It’s only available in Japan and the site appears to currently have only five in stock.

If you really want to get all the girls to scream, you’ll accessorize with a Hello Kitty guitar. Now that would truly rock it Japanese style. O-o-o-o-o-o-o-oh yeah!

On the much less cute side, but probably safer for crossing the street, is the child’s Hello Kitty costume, available at most US costume shops for the Americanized prize of $27.99. Yes, your entire family - even your cats - can be a litter of Hello Kittens.
