Hellboy II on DVD November 18

by Danielle Riendeau on Sep 9, 2008 at 01:23 PM

Hellboy II
Ready for a little Hellboy this Holiday season? ICV2 is reporting that the hit comic book flick (come to think of it, wasn’t every comic flick this summer a hit, minus perhaps Hancock?) Hellboy II: The Golden Army will hit DVD (and Blu-ray) shelves on November 18, 2008. A collector’s edition with an excerpt from visionary director Guillermo del Toro’s (Pan’s Labyrinth)  journals and a Golden Army statue will be available on release. No prices have been released yet, but there’s no reason to expect the various versions to run out of line with similar fare.

I know I’ll be picking it up so I can watch that “love song” scene over and over again. Say what you will about some of the film’s quirks, but I’d put Hellboy II right behind Dark Knight and Wall-E in terms of awesome genre flicks I saw this summer. It’s funny, original, visually arresting and action-packed, just how I like my comic movies.

Make your own hero with Marvel

by Jenni Lada on May 6, 2008 at 06:20 PM

Gamerteller heroineThe official Marvel Kids site has a brand new application which is a great distraction for anyone with an internet connection and anywhere from 10~20 minutes. It’s a “Create your Own Super Hero” program, which lets you piece together different parts to create your own hero or heroine.

You may think it’s just like the countless other doll makers that you might find online, but it’s not. It’s better. After choosing one of three body types, you are given a blank template. There are quite a few accessory and accent options, and each one starts out blank when they appear on the character. After you’ve selected the items you want to appear on your character, you can color him or her using practically any color you want. You can use offered color swatches, or pick a hue from a color scale. This aspect alone guarantees character individuality.
