Here are your Zeebys Casual Game Award winners
On July 24, 2008, during Casual Connect, the second annual Zeebys Casual Game Awards were held. The award show names the best casual games in a variety of categories, as nominated by 40 companies and casual gamers. This year’s awards had 17 categories and honored games from 2007.
The show also raised a substantial amount of money. The Zeebys is an awards show and a charity event, and this year $11,000 from ticket sales and a charity auction was raised for Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation.

AIAS Awards: Call of Duty 4 wins game of the year
The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS), a non-profit organization that promotes entertainment software, held its 11th Annual Academy of Interactive Achievement Awards at the Red Rock Resort in Las Vegas, NV, during this year’s D.I.C.E summit. Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty 4 took home the night’s top honors with four awards.
Other noteworthy winners were BioShock, which was acknowledged for its outstanding achievement in art direction, story development and sound design, and Motorstorm earning itself racing game of the year.

Microsoft to Honor Developers with Xbox Live Arcade Awards
Microsoft has announced the very first Xbox Live Arcade Awards to felicitate the developers who have created the 112 downloadable games for the service. Fans can now cast their vote to decide the winners in several important categories. The final nominees for each award were shortlisted by a panel of elite consumer and game journalists.
The voting is already underway and will close on Wednesday (January 30, 2008) at 11:59 p.m. PST. Not all categories are open for voting, though. You can cast your votes for…
Seth MacFarlane to host Elan Awards
Seth MacFarlane, creator of well-known hit animated series Family Guy and American Dad, has been named the host of the 2nd Annual Elan Awards Show scheduled to perform on February 15, 2008 at The Centre in Vancouver for the Performing Arts.
“I am extremely excited to be hosting the 2nd Annual Elan Awards. I am, of course, heavily involved in animation, and gaming seems to be the wave of the future,” said MacFarlane in a press release posted by the Canadian Awards for the Electronic and Animated Arts (CAEAA), then joked, “but most of all, I’m excited to purchase inexpensive prescription drugs and smuggle them back into the United States.”
The announcement was made today (January 7, 2008) by the producers of CAEAA, event partners (which include Ernest & Young, Electronic Arts (EA) Autodesk, N-GAGE by NOKIA) and by the Government of British Columbia.
The CAEAA’s Elan Awards are given to Video Game development and Animation industry talent. The Elans are awarded to otherwise behind-the-scenes individuals in the industry are are given for exceptional talents in much the same way Hollywood awards their actors with an Oscar.
