What $10 will buy in free MMOs

by Jenni Lada on Apr 17, 2008 at 07:09 AM

The Audition Urban Riot Girl outfit is adorableFree massively multiplayer online (MMO) games are abundant these days, but the free part is often deceptive. Yes, the games can be played and enjoyed without breaking out a credit card but many feature a premium shop filled with exclusive little goodies.

In some cases cash, shop purchases will allow players to customize their character or items (weapons, pets, etc.) bought from the shop can make adventuring a little easier. In the case of Mabinogi, for example, certain shop purchases even allow players to participate in special quests and storylines…

So I decided to take a look through the premium cash shops in some of Aeria, Nexon and Ntreev’s games and determine just how much fun $10 can buy in some of Aeria, Nexon and Ntreev’s free MMOs.

New songs added to Audition

by Jenni Lada on Dec 4, 2007 at 04:40 PM
Audition

Nexon has updated the music library for Audition, their online multiplayer dancing game. A total of 15 new tracks, by their original artists, are now available for users’ dancing pleasure. The tracks come from a variety of different genres and different time periods, so there should be a new favorite in this update for everyone.

Of the 15 tracks, five of them are sure to cause quite a buzz in theAudition communities.  Gamers will be able to dance to the latest singles from Chris Brown, Jennifer Lopez, Joss Stone, Lifehouse, and Yellowcard. This is the first time that tracks from Lifehouse and Yellowcard have been included in the game. While Nexon isn’t prominently displaying images of Lifehouse and Yellowcard on the Audition page, the front page has a changing ad announcing the the addition of Jennifer Lopez’s “Do It Well” and Joss Stone’s “Headturner.”

Audition is a phenomenal and addicting dancing/puzzle game. If you’re familiar with Parappa the Rapper and Bust-a-Groove (and love them dearly), then you should be playing Audition. These additional tracks will only make the game even better. The game is free to download and play, but actual money is required to buy additional clothes, items, hair and faces to customize your dancer. The game client is a massive 1096mb download and is for PCs running Windows 98, ME, 2000 or XP. Nexon, the creator of Audition, is also the force behind MapleStory.

The 15 new songs are:

  • Armin Van Buuren, “Communication”
  • Billie Holiday, “Spreadin’ Rhythm Around”
  • Chris Brown, “Poppin”
  • Earth, Wind & Fire, “Boogie Wonderland”
  • Fantasia, “When I See U”
  • Lifehouse, “Disarray”
  • Jennifer Lopez, “Do It Well”
  • Jim Jones, “We Fly High”
  • Joss Stone, “Headturner”
  • Junkie XL, “Yesterdays”
  • Mandisa, “Only the World”
  • MIMS, “Like This”
  • The Sounds, “Dance with Me”
  • Tobymac, “Gone, One World”
  • Yellowcard, “Light up the Sky”
