Rumor: Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine could be licensed by Aeria Games

by Jenni Lada on Sep 10, 2008 at 02:30 PM

a screenshot from Shin Megami Tensei: ImagineA recent story at Siliconera discusses the possibility of the Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine free-to-play MMORPG, Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine being licensed by Aeria Games. The idea comes from a forum post was created by an Aeria Games Game Master named Taz 002 and is a poll asking if forum members would be interested in playing Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine. It has links to Japanese YouTube videos of gameplay footage and information on the game.

On page 22 of the thread, a user named Sivh posts a quote from another Aeria Games Game Master known as Superman0X in which the Game Master states that Aeria Games has acquired the English and German rights to Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine, and questions why English and German, and not Spanish. Aeria brings Dreamlords: The Reawakening to North America

Dreamlords The Reawakening screen shot
Aeria Games has quite an impressive library of free-to-play massive multiplayer online (MMO) games. But there’s been one area where its lacking - real-time strategic rpgs. That’s where Dreamlords: The Reawakening steps in. Lockpick Entertainment’s Dreamlords will now be available for North American residents to play, thanks to Aeria.

Dreamlords: The Reawakening is a lot like Starcraft or Age of Empires - players wage strategic battles against one another. The difference with Dreamlords is that, like with all MMOs, the game keeps going when you’re not there. So players are given the opportunity to dictate their orders ahead of time, while they are playing. In fact, they can even issue directives from anywhere, so long as they have access to a computer with a browser and internet. They won’t be able to experience everything without downloading the program, but they can keep up-to-date on events and issue orders.

The Audition Urban Riot Girl outfit is adorableFree massively multiplayer online (MMO) games are abundant these days, but the free part is often deceptive. Yes, the games can be played and enjoyed without breaking out a credit card but many feature a premium shop filled with exclusive little goodies.

In some cases cash, shop purchases will allow players to customize their character or items (weapons, pets, etc.) bought from the shop can make adventuring a little easier. In the case of Mabinogi, for example, certain shop purchases even allow players to participate in special quests and storylines…

So I decided to take a look through the premium cash shops in some of Aeria, Nexon and Ntreev’s games and determine just how much fun $10 can buy in some of Aeria, Nexon and Ntreev’s free MMOs.
