Circuit City’s Cyber Monday 2008 game deal - buy a game, get a gift card

by Jenni Lada on Dec 1, 2008 at 11:02 AM

Circuit City Cyber Monday 2008
Circuit City‘s Cyber Monday 2008 sale is somewhat lackluster. At least, when it comes to video games its fairly anticlimactic. If you purchase one of ten select DS, PS3, Wii or Xbox 360 games, you will receive a $10 Circuit City gift card. Of course, with Circuit City declaring bankruptcy and closing so many stores, this deal may not be the smartest one to bet on.

All of the games are quite popular ones. Nintendo games elligible for this deal are Animal Crossing: City Folk (Wii), Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS), Prince of Persia: The Fallen King (DS) and Wii Music (Wii). Call of Duty: World at War (PS3 or Xbox 360), Gears of War 2 (Xbox 360), Prince of Persia (PS3 or Xbox 360) and Resistance 2 (PS3) are also part of the deal. Oddly enough, many of the participating games are unavailable, as the Prince of Persia games are listed as pre-orders and the Prince of Persia: The Fallen King game is shown as coming soon, with no option to even place an order…

Best Buy offers selected Cyber Monday 2008 game sales

by Jenni Lada on Dec 1, 2008 at 10:08 AM

Best Buy Cyber Monday 2008
Best Buy‘s 2008 Cyber Monday sales are up. They aren’t as monumental as the Black Friday 2008 sales, but there are still a few good game deals to be had. It may be a good chance to get some game gifts. Most of the deals involve a cheaper price on a new release, or a buy one game, get another game at a reduced price. So you may want to check it out.

The majority of the sales are on PS3, Xbox 360 and DS games. There are some games from other systems to spice things up though. It also seems like at least half the sale games are “family friendly” or geared towards a younger audience, so if you have a young gamer who is wanting a hot title, this could be your chance. Be quick though, as quite a few deals are already sold out online.

Best Buy’s Cyber Monday 2008 video game sales are as follows…

Wii-inspired WaveScape to bring games to ads

by Pulkit Chandna on Jan 15, 2008 at 07:46 AM

WaveScape in action The Wii has revolutionized the world of home consoles with its highly interactive motion-sensing controllers. Now, a Wii-inspired system might change the face of the advertising industry.

This new game system called WaveScape was unveiled at the recently concluded Consumer Electronic Show. The technology is supposed to make advertising displays more immersive by offering interactive game content. The device, developed by Reactrix Systems, has sophisticated motion sensors allowing anyone to play video games on advertising displays using body movements.

This game system is not restricted to advertising displays but is also compatible with LCD TVs. Matt Bell, the chief scientist at Reactrix, made it clear during the product launch that the first application of this new technology was going to be “advertising and interactive signage.” Reactrix plans to make the game system public with its launch across 150 Hilton hotels during the second half of 2008. The system will not only provide the hotel visitors with riotously fun games but also interactive information.

WaveScape’s capabilities were demonstrated on an imposing Samsung large-format 570DX display. During the demonstration Matt Bell stood in front of the gargantuan display and knocked-out a Panda in a round of boxing, with every bare-fisted punch being recorded by a motion sensing device attached to the Samsung display. Then he and another bloke played a game of volleyball.
