Wal-Mart’s Cyber Monday deals are now in full effect. There is no shortage of games here at all. Granted a lot of them are titles a lot of us have never heard of before but the list is so expansive you’re bond to find something to pick up. The best deals have to be for Xbox 360 bundles that include Guitar Hero World Tour for $269. The game deals for DS, PS2, Xbox 360, Wii and PSP come in pairs for one price. Confirming something most of us already know, a new study coming out of Villanova University indicates that motion controls do not increase aggression in people who play violent video games.

Certainly inspired by the controversy controversy surrounding the Wii release of Manhunt 2, a study titled “An examination of psychoticism and motion capture controls as moderators of the effects of violent video games” (Patrick M. Markey and Kelly Scherera, 2008, Department of Psychology, Villanova University) examined the “hostility and aggressive thoughts” in individuals while they played Manhunt 2 as well as Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08

This past week several sites, including Gamertell, reported that Sam’s Club was offering a rather incredible Wii bundle deal for Black Friday (November 28, 2008, aka the day after Thanksgiving). Unfortunately, the price indicated in the scan of the print ad was incorrect.

According to a cease and desist request sent by Baker Hostetler LLP to Gamertell and many other outlets, the following line was requested to replace the image:

“The Sam’s Club advertisement included unauthorized changes that reflected inaccurate pricing information.“

When I shop at Target, the first place I now look is the gift card rack.

This year is no doubt a fantastic time to be a gamer. It’s not often that I can count triple-A titles on both my hands in such a short period of time. Sadly though, with every great game released another good game gets lost in its shadow.

It’s time to acknowledge the existence of these games before they fade into the background. Every major console has at least one promising game that won’t get much coverage in the coming months. Give these games a try before you get too immersed in Resistance 2 or Gears 2. You just may be happy you did…
