The Xbox 360 is going to enjoy strategic RPGs as long as Atlus is arround. Zoids Assault, a strategic RPG based on the Zoids toy/anime/manga. Players will command an army of Zoid mechs, which they can fully customize. The game, rated “Teen,” will be available in North America on August 26, 2008.
In Zoids Assault, players act on behalf of the Maroll army. Years ago, the Guylos Empire and Republic of Helic were at each other’s necks. War is infectious, and smaller nations like Maroll and Jamil got involved. After the Guylos/Helic war was over, the conflict between Maroll and Jamil continued. Ten years later, explosions at Maroll bases prompt an investigation in Jamil. How mysterious. I’m guessing there’s a twist where Maroll was the bad guy all along.
This may be surprising, but Zoids has an extensive background. It all started out as a series of robotic-creature plastic models in Japan. There was also a Spider-Man and Zoids comic from Marvel in Europe, five Zoids anime series (many of which were translated and released in the US) and three Zoids Japanese manga series. There have also been 17 Zoids-inspired video games, including Zoids Assault.
