Xbox 360 outsells Wii and PS3 in Japan for first time ever

by Danielle Riendeau on Sep 17, 2008 at 04:12 PM

Xbox 360 Maybe it’s a chilly day in Hell? Gamasutra is reporting that the Xbox 360, riding high on the waves of Tales of Vesperia‘s impressive numbers, has outsold both of its competitors in Japan. The news comes from the latest data from Enterbrain, and is a weekly figure. But still - the system has always been in third place in Japan, trailing after Sony and Nintendo’s more Japanese-friendly (in terms of content and huge consumer bases for each company) consoles by a large margin.

According to the post, the 360 sold a whopping 28,681 units for the week ending September 14, 2008. A cold day in hell, indeed. And a fantastic one for Microsoft - maybe that Final fantasy XIII coup will pay off after all.
