Wonderland Online now in open beta

by Jenni Lada on May 13, 2008 at 02:25 PM

Wonderland Online player vs player combat
The Internet MMORPG (massive multiplayer online role playing game) Wonderland Online just entered its open beta phase on May 11, 2008. The closed beta for the new game ended on the same day, but all of the closed beta players’ information was saved and carried over to the Aries server.

The open beta announcement also brings with it a few other interesting tidbits, aside from the whole “everyone can play” aspect. A new server, Taurus, is now open and now both daily and special occasion events will be held.

What intrigued me most about Wonderland Online was the game’s set-up. When you begin the game, you choose one of 12 different preset characters (there are eight girls and four guys) as your avatar. Your characters were on a cruise, and the ship sunk. The survivors are left behind to try and survive on an island.

Combat also looks familiar for turn-based RPG fans. It is conducted in a manner similar to the Atelier Iris games. It’s a nice change of pace from standard real time battles found in MMOs.

Wonderland Online is only for PCs running Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP or Vista with DirectX 7.0. If you want to install the game client, you must also download either Flashget or Gigaget. The game client is available on torrents as well, if you’re like me and uncomfortable about downloading Flashget or Gigaget.
