Witchblade, Hunter Killer gets greenlight. Darkness still in limbo

by Christopher Buckner on Apr 21, 2008 at 04:03 PM

top cow In a Top Cow panel discussion with company president Matt Hawkins on the final day (April 20, 2008) of the New York Comic-Con, Hawkins confirmed that two of Top Cow’s most popular titles are getting videogame tie-ins. The first is Witchblade, Top Cow’s most popular book, who some of you might recall had a short lived cable TV series and crossed the Pacific as an anime series. The second is Hunter/Killer which tells the story of living super weapons known as Ultra Sapiens.

When questions arose about a possible sequel to 2007 hit title, The Darkness, Hawkins was quick to deny rumors of a possible sequel in the works but didn’t say that it was out of the question for future development. Regardless, it is Witchblade that will be the next Top Cow title that will hit store shelves first.

Darkness in many regards is the best/worst comic book game to be made. Originally Published by Majesco which sold the rights to 2K games, Darkness suffered from horrible controls, easy game play and terrible AI, yet it had one of the best stories seen in any comic book-based videogame. Despite its troubles, The Darkness brought a unique look to the character and world, that a sequel would be a welcome to any comic book lover-take in account they fix what was wrong with the game the first time around.
