Will video games based on movies ever suck?

by Danielle Riendeau on Apr 1, 2008 at 03:20 PM

Empire Strikes Back Atari 2600
As videogames become increasingly popular, we’re seeing more and more movie properties come to the virtual world. Games like the recent Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and the Tron arcade game are so radical because they let you actually play in the world of the movie. And we’re totally looking forward to the Raider’s of the Lost Ark game set to debut on the 2600 this November.

But will game and movie production companies ever get greedy? Will they put out games that are rushed out to tie in with popular films? After all, no one has heard much about the E.T. game that’s set to hit this December.

It’s a topic we’ll be looking out for here at Gamertell. But don’t worry too much - I’m sure the creators wouldn’t mess up a game based on one of the year’s best movies.

Man, I totally cannot wait for E.T. to come out! I bet it’ll have guns and aliens - how could it possibly be bad?
