Warhound may revolutionize the FPS… next year

Techland just issued new screenshots of its up and coming FPS, Warhound, which is slated as the next FPS to rule the gaming world.  This release was on the heals of the news that the game’s initial release has been postponed.

Being a huge FPS fan myself I like to keep on the lookout for games that offer some new and improved widget that will propel the genre to the next level. The next project from Techland, titled Warhound, is one of the games I am eagerly watching in the hope that it will do what so many in the past have tried and failed.

Reading through the Gamestop.com preview you find phrases like “non-linear,“ “points based upgrade” and “character specialization.“ I don’t know about you but that sure sounds like a RPG to me. And when I think of point based upgrades in a FPS I think of the Star Wars: Jedi Knight series, and I start to smile and reminisce over the great times I had long ago when I first picked up these little jewels (or two months ago when I replayed Jedi Academy).

I’m sure all you FPS fans out there are as eager as I to see what the next best thing in the genre will be. Though originally scheduled for release later this year, Gamespot.com reported yesterday that we will all have to wait till 2008 to see if this one brings us the virtual experiences for which we crave. In the meantime, enjoy the screenshots.
