Video Games Live concert tour goes global

Video Games LiveIf your as passionate about video games as I am, you won’t want to miss Video Games Live concert when it comes to your town. Long have I waited to for the Video Games Live experience to play in a city near me on the east coast and this year I may yet get the chance.

Video Games Live has expanded its concert tour to include countries such as Taiwan, Brazil, Germany, France, England, Scotland, Mexico and China to name a few according to the most recent tour dates listed. According to VGL history, the show has been selling out performances since July 6, 2005 when they did a debut performance at the world famous Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles with the LA Philharmonic with veteran game composers Jack Wall and recently named Person of the Year, Tommy Tallarico.

The performance features memorable songs from video games including: Mario, Zelda, Halo, Final Fantasy, World of Warcraft, StarCraft II, Metal Gear Solid, Chrono Cross, Metal Gear Solid, God of War, Medal of Honor and BioShock, just to name a few.

This year, VGL announces 40 performances across the world with top orchestras and choirs performing along with video footage and music arrangements that gamers will recognize and enjoy. he concert includes solo performers, special effects and more. The shows are quickly selling out and those planning to go should purchase their tickets ahead of time. Below are the tour dates for 2008 (unless posted, all shows begin at 8 p.m.):

  • February 7 and 8, 2008 in Montreal, QC at the St. Denis Theatre. Tickets are still available for February 7, 2008 show but have sold out for the February 8, 2008.
  • February 9, 2008 in Toronto, Ontario at Massey Hall.
  • February 15, 2008 in Ft. Wayne, Ind., at the Embassy Theatre and will feature performances by the Fort Wayne Philharmonics.
  • February 17, 2008 in Edmonton, Canada at the Alberta Jubilee Auditorium.
  • February 22, 2008 in San Francisco, Calif., at the Nob Hill Masonic Center as part of the 2008 Game Developers Conference special events. Tickets are on sale now and seating is limited. Exclusive discounts are offered to those attending the GDC.
  • March 1, 2008 in Milwaukee, Wis. at the Riverside Theater with performances by the Milwaukee Symphony.
  • March 7, 2008 in Phoenix, Ariz. at the Maricopa Events Center with performances by the Phoenix Symphony.
  • March 15, 2008 in Mexicali, Mexico at the Plaza Calafia Bullring. Tickets are still available but show times have yet to be announced.
  • March 27, 2008 in Ogden, Utah at the Browning Fine Arts Center with performances by the Utah Symphony.
  • March 28 and 29, 2008 in Salt Lake City, Utah at Abravanel Hall with performances by the Utah Symphony.
  • April 26, 2008 in New York City, NY at the Beacon Theatre.
  • June 14, 2008 in Las Vegas/Henderson, Nev. at the Henderson Pavilion with performances by the Las Vegas Philharmonics.
  • July 11 and 12, 2008 in Austin, TX at the Long Center. Show times have not been announced and tickets for this show will not be available until February.
  • July 18, 2008 in Louisville, KY at the Kentucky Center for Arts with performances by the Louisville Orchestra.
  • July 24, 2008 in San Diego, Calif. at the Embarcadero Marina Park with performances by the San Diego Symphony. The show will start at 7:30 p.m. and tickets for this show will not be available until February.
  • August 9 and 10, 2008 in Taipei, Taiwan at the Pan-Chiao Stadium. The show will start at 7:30 p.m. and tickets for this show will not be available until March.
  • August 20, 2008 in Leipzig, Germany at the Leipzig Arena during the Games Convention. Tickets are on sale now.
  • October 9, 2008 in Birmingham, Alabama at the Jefferson Convention Complex with performances by the Alabama Symphony. Tickets are still available for this show.
  • October 29, 2008 in Vancouver, BC at the Orpheum Theatre with performances by the Vancouver Symphony. This show starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets will go on sale in March 14, 2008.
  • November 14, 2008 in the Normandy Lounge as part of the Carnival Cruise Ship entertainment. The show starts at noon. To book a cruise on this tour contact a travel agent.
