Portal is one of the most creative games Valve has ever been attached to. Even though it wasn’t a standalone title, Portal managed to gain a very loyal following that will carry over towards the release of Portal 2. Valve is so proud of its work on Portal 2, it has hailed it as some of its best work.
Valve’s co-founder Gabe Newell gave a short interview with 1UP in which he stated Valve internally feels that Portal 2 is,“the best game we’ve ever done.”
Newell has always been very straight forward in interviews he’s done. Valve rarely lets gamers down with its products and if Portal 2 is a supersized version of the original, we’re in for a treat.
In other Valve news, yesterday (March 11, 2010) during Gabe Newell’s acceptance speech for the Pioneer Award at GDC 2010, a blue error screen appeared that contained more details into Valve’s future. The slideshow was supposed to answer questions such as why Valve doesn’t develop for the PS3 or who is the G-Man, but instead showed a string of code. A clever gamer deciphered the code as saying,“S U S : P E N D ... U N T ( I ) L ... E E E.”
Perhaps Portal 2 could come to the PS3. We’ll have to wait until E3 2010 to find out.
