After the ground breaking success of Gears of War, Epic Games must be asking itself how else it can get its hands on gamers’ hard-earned money? Well, one way is simply to releases the latest outing of the highly acclaimed Unreal Tournament series of course.

After years of waiting, a number of impressive Best of E3 awards and the building anticipation of legions of fans, Epic’s flagship title is set to release for the PC this week. Building off of last years’ success of Gear of War, winner of a number of game of the year awards for 2006, Unreal Tournament 3 is certainly going to capture the same success.

Unreal Tournament 3, developed by Epic Games and published by Midway, is available now (November 19, 2007) in North America for the suggested retail price of $59.95 and is rated “Mature” by the ESRB.

The popular fist-person shooter that originally broke numerous gaming barriers when it was originally released back in 1998 will return to its single player roots by bring players a promised fully-realized story mode.

In this outing, you play a character named Reaper, a man that had his entire colony wiped out by the merciless alien race known as, the Necris. Of course, being the lone survivor, Reaper swears nothing but absolute revenge on those that destroyed everything that meant anything to him. Joining a group of planet-hoping mercenaries, players will control Reaper through his quest for vengeance against the Necris.

If you are worried about the multiplayer, never fear loyal fans as Unreal Tournament 3 promises to deliver on what made the series such a hit in the first place.

Online play will include a variety of multiplayer game types, including but not limited too, Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Duel and Warfare. The same great heavy-hitting weapons that made past installments so great will all be featured in this outing, including a whole new host of interesting and inspired weapons and vehicles.

Visually, UT3 is outstanding with a unique art style that has become recognizable to Epic Games titles such as Gear of War. Built on the engine based on the game’s name, UT3 will no doubt push gamers PC power to its limit. Fear not, console fans, for Epic Games is set to release Unreal Tournament for the PS3 early 2008.

To further make this package worth a purchase, fans will be able to fully modify the Unreal Engine, enabling them to create new maps, missions, and total conversions to the powerful engine.
