Ubisoft likes creating product lines - introduces Family Fest

by Jenni Lada on Dec 10, 2008 at 01:36 PM

Ubisoft Family Fest Presents Circus Games Movie GamesUbisoft is proudly calling attention to two of its mini-game collections by including them in the company’s latest product line - Family Fest. Family Fest Presents Circus Games and Family Fest Presents Movie Games are both for the Wii each have 20 themed mini-games for $29.99. Only Circus Games is rated Everyone though, Movie Games ended up with an Everyone 10+ label. I wonder if that E10+ contradicts the “Family” part of the title.

It seems a bit of a belated announcement. Circus Games came out October 21, 2008, and Movie Games followed shortly after on November 4, 2008. Perhaps Ubisoft wanted to call attention to the Family Fest line with Christmas and other winter holidays approaching, in the hopes that parents would pick up either game. After all, some people may look at games, see “Family” and “E” and then automatically decide that would be a good gift.

Ubisoft is certainly becoming quite well known for its game lines, perhaps it is even better known for these (possibly shovelware) titles than it is for its legitimate games. Let’s review, shall we? Ubisoft has the Petz line of virtual pet games, the Imagine line of “simulation” games for girls and Ener-G sports games for girls. Did I miss any? The series must be popular, as every time I look in a GameStop or Wal-Mart, I see another two or three entries in the series.
